West Ham v Hull City Betting Preview

The Hammers have surprised everyone this season, playing with attacking flair and verve. Wins over Man City and Liverpool being two highlights of a campaign that, so far, West Ham fans could only have dreamed of. Sitting pretty between Liverpool and Spurs is a place very few would have predicted having finished last season just 7 points above the relegation zone.

On the flip side we have Hull City. Their fans will, most likely, have been expecting them to be sitting near the relegation zone come the halfway point.  With only 4 wins to their name all season, fans and manager alike will be desperate to see much needed quality added during the January transfer market. Can Steve Bruce stop the rot, or if they taste defeat to West Ham, will his head be the next to roll in the traditional New Year manager’s sack race?

Hull won just 1 of their opening 5 games of the season, and after tasting victory, they duly embarked on a winless streak stretching 10 games. Lately however, signs of life have started to appear; wins over Sunderland and Everton on Boxing Day and New Year’s Day, respectively, have reignited a spark of optimism in supporters.

West Ham on the other hand have not won in 4 Premier League games, drawing to Swansea and Everton and losing to Chelsea and Arsenal. This however appears to be a blip in their season. I fully expect West Ham to beat Hull City in their upcoming match. Their home form has been very consistent (P11 W6 D2 L3 all season and coupled with Hull’s terrible away form (P10 W1 D4 L5), I would expect the Hammers to comfortably win this match.  Furthermore, The Hammers have won their past 5 meetings in a row at home against The Tigers.  My first tip is therefore a West Ham victory, odds of 8/11 can be found with BetVictor.

Hull City have conceded more goals than any other team in the opening 15 minutes of matches this season (8). Therefore, my second tip for this match is for West Ham to be winning at half time. Odds of 7/5 can be found with Bet Victor.

Hull City are without 8 first team players; most notably their two strikers, Abel Hernandez and Nikica Jelavic. This coupled with Hull’s lack of goals in the past two games, defeats to Arsenal in the cup and West Brom in the league, I just cannot see where Hull’s goals are going to come from.
