Poland know, a win against Ukraine will mean setting up a showdown with England will carry more interest. It is boom or bust for them now. We mentioned on this column back in September that Poland then still had a chance, and we were not wrong. Ukraine know they have a certainty in beating San Marino, but will not want to take any chances in tasting defeat.

A defeat for Ukraine, and a win against San Marino will not guarantee anything, so they have to go for the win, but the greater need is on Poland. This could suggest goals, where the winning goal if any could be the most important goal of the groups campaign.

We were surprised that both teams to score was odds against, although the last five of Ukraine’s games have seen one or neither team score. All of the last four Poland games have seen both teams score, including San Marino taking a goal in the previous match.

Both teams need to produce something, and think the bookies are being slightly generous based on my points, that the prices in places are as big as 6/5, and in our opinion, too big!
