Andre Villas-Boas faces his former mentor in Saturday’s London derby, and we have some must see Man of the Match tips.
The previous two meetings between Tottenham and Chelsea produced ten goals, but with Spurs conceding just one goal in over 16 hours of football, things should be different this time around.
The Spurs defence has looked impenetrable, and probably would have gone the season without conceding a goal had it not been for weak-link Michael Dawson. That is mostly down to the outstanding performances from Jan Vertonghen, who is becoming one of the worlds best centre backs.
Added to that Hugo Lloris has gotten practically every decision right this season in a sweeper keeper role that has paid dividends for Villas-Boas.
Jose Mourinho showed at Old Trafford that he’s not afraid to park the bus, and with Spurs in a rich vein of form he probably would take a point.
From a Man of the Match perspective I believe a defensive player is the best bet. Take Vertonghen at 16/1 (Ladbrokes) as he has the capability of scoring as well as making match-winning challenges at the other end.
Any goalkeeper is also 16/1 (various) and looks good, with Lloris playing so well and Petr Cech thrown in there is every chance of one of them picking up the award.
For Chelsea, their nonsensical rotation of centre backs means it is difficult to know who will start. But with David Luiz a constant liability, John Terry and Gary Cahill are the most likely starters. The latter has looked sporadically solid this season and at 20/1 (various) is due the bubbly.
