Swansea come into this home fixture against Newcastle on the back of two consecutive defeats in the last week (Valencia and Manchester City). Their European campaign has tested their squad to it's limits and because of this the Welsh Capital One Cup holders find themselves in the bottom half of the league table, giving weight to the argument that the Europa League is more a burden than a prize.

Newcastle on the other hand are in fine form, having earnt all three points in their last four games (they have not won five consecutive games since April 2012). Newcastles change in fortunes after a relatively slow start to the season can be accredited to French forward Loic Remy who has scored 8 goals in 11 games for the Geordie side. Newcastle's run looks to be under threat soon however, with games against Manchester united and Southampton following their trip to the Liberty stadium, so they’ll be looking to pick up maximum points here.

Newcastles are relatively injury free with their only real injury concern heading into this game being right-back ryan taylor, only Cardiff City have a healthier squad. Swansea however have a small injury crisis, only five injuries but most of them first team players, their injured players are as follows: Britton, Monk, Michu, Bony and Rangel. Whilst I’ve heard rumours that Michu could be fit to make an appearance from the bench on Wednesday night I think this is unlikely.
