Swansea started life after Ashley Williams with a 1-0 win away to Burnley. Their Italian manager Francesco Guidolin is clearly getting his defensive approach across to his team. The Swans also lost forward Andre Ayew to West Ham over the summer, but they’ve moved quickly to replace him. They’ve signed Spanish pair Borja Baston and Fernando Llorente as they look to bring goals to their team. The Swans have the foundations already in place, they just needed a little more cutting edge in order to build on last term’s 12^th placed finish. They made a strong start even without the likes of Neil Taylor and Gylfi Sigurdsson, but those two are likely to return here.

 

Hull

Hull got their season started in the best possible fashion, beating champions Leicester 2-1. That came despite a raft of problems at the club. They had just 13 fit first team players, which included three defenders. With no manager installed and no new signings this summer, the newly promoted side are still favourites for the drop. They may have rallied to see off the Foxes, but it’s going to take a big effort for them to continue that kind of form across the season. Mike Phelan’s men can dig in for a result or two, but they look short of the quality needed at this level.

The shining light of Swansea’s opening game was Llorente’s debut. The World Cup winner could be a major asset for the Swans, he’s big and powerful on top of being a quality player. The Spaniard set up Leroy Fer for the winning goal at Burnley, capping off a wonderful debut performance. He’ll relish taking on makeshift centre-back Jake Livermore on Saturday, and we see Llorente making a big impact against the Tigers. Hull made a strong start to the season, but we can’t see it continuing here. The Swans have been handed a great opportunity to make a strong start. The Tigers will find things tough away from home, especially against an established Premier League team.
