Southampton have started their season rather shakily already having conceded five goals in just two Premier League games which is very unusual as last season they were very well organised and didn’t concede that many until October last season.

The sideshow of the Europa League has garnered very different results as a 5-0 aggregate win against a very capable Vitesse side has given Southampton fans hope of a very long and fruitful European Campaign. They play FC Midtjylland of Denmark, the current reigning championson Thursday.

 

I do believe FC Midtjylland are a much weaker opposition than Vitesse were, and their Champions League dreams were ended by APOEL on away goals who are by no means a great side themselves. They just about scraped past Lincoln Red Imps of Gibraltar 3-0 in the first knockout round of the Champions league so I do not expect much of a goal threat from them against Southampton for my football betting tips. Their lack of goal threat plus the chance of their star player Pione Sisto transferring to Celta Vigo is all good signs for Saints fans.

 

This should be a walk in the park for Southampton, as I do feel that Vitesse are far superior opposition to Midtjylland and they were despatched emphatically.

Being the focal point of the attack and a genuine aerial threat due to his height and power, I feel it’s worth a punt on Graziano Pelle to score first against FC Midtjylland.

My final bet is because of the result against Everton, Ronald Koeman will have been extra vigilant with his defence and ensured they have resolved the issues they have suffered from in the last couple of weeks.
