Anyone who saw the first leg of this Champions League tie would probably be putting their mortgage on a Schalke win and in my opinion, rightly so.

Drogba, Yilmaz, Sneijder and co were very disappointing in the first leg in the Turk Telekom Arena, after going ahead through a quality Yilmaz goal, they sat back far too deep allowing Schalke to press  and they got their deserved equaliser.

Schalke will have to go into this game without Klaas-Jan Huntelaar who got injured in Schalke’s 2-1 win over Dortmund at the weekend who was just coming back into form with two goals in two games. They are unbeaten in five games in the league and they have won all three league games since they last played Galatasaray in Istanbul. Their last 6 home games have gone over 2.5 goals and their three home games in the Champions League has seen two results of 2-2 and one 1-0 win. Even without Huntelaar I think Schalke will score.

Galatasaray come into this game on the back of a 1-0 home defeat, the game before that was a 0-0 and their only win since the first leg was a 4-2 home win in a match which saw them go 2-0 down at half time. Despite the lack of goals in their last two games they do have real quality in attack. Yilmaz has six goals in six games and it should really be seven in six but for his shocking open goal miss in his last home game.  Schalke haven’t kept a clean sheet at home since their Champions’ League group game against Olympiakos back in November, 8 games ago.

In conclusion, not much between these two sides and a scoring draw has come in, in 2/3 home games for Schalke.  BTTS should also land but I think Schalke’s home advantage should see them through… eventually.
