Boring I know, but the Argentine is clear favourite for a reason, he's scored 78 goals in only 120 games for Manchester City. This is a record that is up there with the very best strikers in Premier League history. Aguero seems set to start the season in a new-look front three with Raheem Sterling and the outstanding David Silva providing the ammunition from both flanks. Wherever he plays, Aguero will always score goals, the only question mark will be over his fitness. Having been laid low on numerous occasions over the past few years, there is an element of risk surrounding backing him. Christian Benteke – £10 E/W @ 14/1

Similarly to Aguero, Liverpool's marquee summer signing Christian Benteke has an outstanding goals to game ratio in the Premier League, and could be set to fill his boots in a far more attacking team than he's used to playing for. The Belgian international scored 42 goals in 89 appearances for Aston Villa over the last three seasons, and this run even included a six month stinker under the reign of Paul Lambert last term. There are two issues that offer as a slight deterrent when considering backing Benteke, though. Firstly, the impact of Daniel Sturridge could curtail some serious game time once the England international returns to full fitness. However, since Sturridge's legs are made of spaghetti, I wouldn't consider this too much of a worry in the grand scheme of things. My chief concern would be whether Benteke will fit into Brendon Rodgers' Liverpool system. We saw last year when Mario Balotelli was shoe-horned into the Reds' front line, the Italian struggled. Had Rodgers compromised somewhat and played more to Balotelli's strengths as opposed to focussing solely on the 'system', I'm sure Balotelli would have had more of an impact. Although, Benteke is a better player, the same conundrum hangs over Rodgers' head.

Troy Deeney – £10 E/W @ 80/1

Finally for a bit of a longshot in this Premier League top goalscorer market, and I'm going to have a punt on Watford striker Troy Deeney. His return of 21 goals last season was instrumental to Watford's promotion, and if he can replicate that form in the Premier League, they will have a chance of staying up. Granted Deeney isn't the easiest on the eye and will certainly pick up his fair share of yellow cards. However, he scores all kinds of goals and at 80/1 is an excellent shout for an each way bet. Charlie Austin finished fourth in the goal scoring rankings for a struggling QPR side last year. This would have returned £40 in free bets as well as a quarter of his starting odds. I see no reason why Troy Deeney can't score his fair share of goals this year, and with many of the big hitters likely to have European commitments, his game-time is pretty much set in stone.
