When it comes to Manchester United last season, I will be the first person to tuck into a large slice of humble pie. Following their FA Cup exit at home to Arsenal, I – like many others – thought their season was over and Liverpool were an absolute shoe-in for forth spot. How wrong we all were. United produced a stunning six game winning streak over February and March in a run that included key wins over close rivals Liverpool, Spurs and Manchester City. Such was the significance of this set of results, LVG's men could even afford to lose three of their last six games and still finish with a six point cushion over fifth placed Tottenham.

Moving into the 2015/16 season and United have already been busy in the transfer market. The early signing of Mephis Depay certainly laid down a statement of intent following their return to the Champions League. The Dutch international weighed in with 25 goals for PSV last season and looks a real talent. In addition to this, LVG has also added Torino right back Matteo Darmian to the squad, but has decided against pursuing a deal for loanee Rademal Falcao following his dismal return of five goals last season.
However, United's player of the year David De Gea seems set to seal a move to Real Madrid in the coming weeks following the departure of Iker Casillas. This will of course pave the way for Victor Valdez to step into the number one spot, which is essentially like swapping your PS4 for an Xbox One. Furthermore, Real defender Sergio Ramos seems certain to move to Old Trafford as part of that deal and could prove to be a huge signing for LVG. Granted there are elements of the idiotic when it comes to Ramos, but you don't win the trophies he has by being a donkey. The Spanish international could be a real coup for the Premier League.
Premier League Prediction 1 – Manchester United to be top on September 1st – 5/1 Betfair.
With four very winnable opening matches against Spurs, Swansea, Villa and Newcastle, Manchester United could be an excellent shout to be early leaders in the Premier League for our first football tip ahead of the new season. With the likes of Chelsea and Manchester City facing off in the second week of fixtures and Arsenal and Liverpool in the fourth, at least two of their rivals are guaranteed to drop points. With all this in mind, back United to be top after the first four matches at 5/1 with Betfair.
Premier League Prediction 2 – Manchester United to be the top North West club – 2/1 Bet Victor
Unsurprisingly there is very little value on offer surrounding a United top four finish next season. In addition to this, judging by the consummate ease in which Chelsea won the league last year, a punt on another title heading to Old Trafford seems equally unappealing. Nevertheless, at 2/1 with Bet Victor, United can be backed to be the top team from the North West. Despite some real quality in their squad, it is unlikely Everton would pose much of a threat. Neither would a Liverpool side in transition. Manchester City could upset the apple cart, but off the back of their disappointing 2014/15 campaign and with their ageing team, I can see United scooping the spoils on this particular front.
