Paddy Power’s marketing team have been up to their usual tricks again, and the latest butt of their joke is Chelsea’s Fernando Torres.
The Irish bookie has caused a strong reaction from a very unhappy Chelsea legal team after a giant billboard appeared next to Stamford Bridge offering Torres a new job in a Burger Van.
The latest controversial advertising campaign by Paddy Power mocks the Spanish striker with a picture of an onion bag, stating ‘FERNANDO. We’ve got an onion bag you can actually find. It’s in the burger van mate. Get your hair net on.’
The joke didn’t go down well at Stamford Bridge and now the Chelsea staff have brought in a legal team to get the billboard taken down.
It isn’t the first time Paddy Power have caused a stir with their advertising, giant billboards appeared just before the London 2012 Olympics at some of the major London train stations stating that Paddy Power were the "Official sponsor of the largest athletics event in London this year! There you go, we said it". They then go on to reveal that the sponsorship is of an egg and spoon race to be held in the town of London in France.
A legal battle ensued but Paddy Power came out victorious and the billboards stayed. Will they win their latest battle?
