Ones to watch at Euro 2016: Sweden’s John Guidetti

Despite largely failing to make the grade at Manchester City during his somewhat lengthy spell at the Etihad, Sweden’s John Guidetti could indeed serve to set Euro 2016 alight this summer alongside the notorious Zlatan Ibrahimovic, in a tournament that might genuinely turn out to prove a roaring success for Erik Hamren’s determined side.

 

The 24-year-old striker has certainly impressed among the Spanish La Liga with Celta Vigo this season, notching 12 well taken goals in all competitions as well as producing several entertaining performances whilst he’s been at it.

 

Although Manchester City arguably didn’t require the services of this latest Swedish talisman before the 2015/16 domestic campaign first got underway, it seems as if Pellegrini’s loss has certainly benefitted the striker’s current employers within the Spanish top-flight – which could admittedly stir the Swedish onto some much improved fortunes at Euro 2016 this summer.  

 

 

 

When it comes to bullying his respective back-lines with an overtly physical approach, taking on defenders with sharp confidence and style inside the final third, as well as simply cropping up with his fair share of goals with all things duly considered – John Guidetti does at least possess the potential to make things happen once the regular domestic campaign finally comes to a close.

 

The former Manchester City front-man has shone for his nation at youth level for several consecutive seasons now, so whilst his may admittedly fail to represent the most well-established name operating on the international scene this summer, Euro 2016 really could provide this 24-year-old Scandinavian with the breakthrough stage his early career has so far been calling out for.
