With their fate resting in their own hands, Newcastle United entertain West Ham United on the final day of the Premier League campaign. For the last time this season, tune into Sky Sports at 3pm and here are our match predictions and betting tips.
Newcastle v West Ham Predictions
For Newcastle United to even be in the position they are now is an absolute disgrace. The Magpies were on the peripheries of European football at the start of December and now find themselves a potential 90 minutes from relegation to The Championship. It really has been a shambolic slump of epic proportions that has seen a paltry return of four points in the last third of the season.
Of course everyone can point fingers of blame in certain directions, but it doesn't take a genius to see this horrendous run of form has coincided with the departure of Alan Pardew. One just has to look at the job he's done at Crystal Palace, combined with the fact Newcastle were comfortably in the top half of the table on his departure, to see this had a catastrophic effect on their season. All the 'Pardew Out' supporters should hang their head in shame.
Their opponents West Ham have also seen their season tail off after a terrific start, albeit in slightly less spectacular fashion. The Hammers have only won three games since Christmas, as well as only scoring more than once in a match on two occasions during this period. Nevertheless, thanks to their strong opening to the campaign, they could still finish as high as tenth place with a win this weekend.
In spite of Newcastle's dreadful form, they couldn't have hand-picked a better opponent for Sunday's make or break clash. However, so much will depend on matters at the KC Stadium, when really it should only be about Newcastle getting three points. If Hull take the lead against Manchester United, the atmosphere in St James' Park will resemble your average morgue and the home side will be staring down the barrel. An early goal for The Toon Army, though, and the pressure will be off and the crowd behind them. The issue with this latter scenario is that Newcastle have only scored once in the first fifteen minutes all season long, and have the worst record in the division for first half goals. They could really do with an early favour from LVG's men to settle the nerves.
Anyhow, decision time for our Newcastle v West Ham predictions. It's a really tough call, but I can see this match ending all-square. West Ham have picked up seven draws on the road this season and Sam Allardyce will be desperate to prove a point against his former employers. Newcastle's form is so dire, I just can't see them picking up a win, let alone being able to tip them at wretched odds of 4/5.

Moving over to the goalscoring market and there isn't exactly a plethora of attacking talent on show, but this certainly opens a few doors with some potentially rewarding odds. Therefore, have a punt on Remy Cabella to score at any time in the match at 7/2 with Betfred. The Frenchman should be involved from the start and may well get his hands on a few dead balls as well.

Finally, for a bit of a longshot in the man of the match market and Moussa Sissoko has arguably been Newcastle's best player this season – which isn't much of a complement! If Newcastle are to pull off their much needed victory, Sissoko is likely to play a huge part in the proceedings.
