Netherlands vs France Predictions, Betting Tips and Preview

Netherlands vs France predictions and football betting tips for tonight’s World Cup 2018 qualifying with the best odds for each selection from our tipster.

The third set of fixtures from Group A sees the top two go head to head as the Netherlands host France in Amsterdam. The match is live on ITV 4 at 19:45pm and here is our match preview and betting tips ahead of that clash.

Both the Netherlands and France are much fancied to progress as the top two teams, in what has to be said, is one of the easier groups in World Cup qualifying. Nevertheless, both of them did manage to drop points in very winnable games during the opening round of fixtures, and are currently separated only by goals scored at the top of Group A after following that up with a 4-1 victory apiece last week.

Netherlands

The hosts will be looking to build on what’s been a disappointing couple of years which has seen them miss out on Euro 16 over the summer after finishing a dreadful fourth out of six teams in qualifying. Despite not being the side of old, there was still more than enough strength and depth in that Dutch squad to have at least made it into the playoffs. However, that particular qualifying campaign was the perfect example of how important it is to get off to a good start, and this is something that Danny Blind will be all too aware of this time around.

France

For the French, they will still be licking their wounds after somehow managing to blow a wonderful opportunity for European glory over the summer after losing the Euro 16 final to a poor Portugal side that even played most of the match without Cristiano Ronaldo. On that particular occasion, too many of Didier Deschamps’ big players went missing, and whilst they probably deserved to lift the trophy based on their overall performance during the tournament, they failed to produce the goods when it really mattered. Nevertheless, the experience is likely to be a valuable one for the likes of Paul Pogba and Antione Griezmann, both of whom are likely to be in and around the squad for several years to come.

Match Prediction

Heading into Monday’s clash, and the Dutch are slight underdogs to take the much-needed three points and are currently available at a best price of 5/2. Opponents France can be backed at much shorter odds of 13/10, with the draw available at a reasonable 23/10.

Although meetings between the two sides over the last decade have been few and far between – only three in the last 12 years – the pair did meet for a friendly earlier this year, with the French emerging as narrow victors (2-3) in an exciting affair at the same venue. However, due to the nature of the group and the fact both sides are about to enter a favourable run of fixtures in the coming months, I can see this match ending all-square. With this in mind, back the draw outright at 23/10 with Bet365 which is my first Netherlands vs France prediction.

Both Teams to Score Tips

Moving over to the both teams to score market and I think all the hallmarks are here for an entertaining clash with plenty of goals. The Dutch have only kept one clean sheet in their last 13 matches and also conceded 14 goals during their ill-fated Euro 16 qualifying campaign. The French have an absolute plethora of attacking talent at their disposal, but have leaked several sloppy goals over the last year, and with home advantage behind them, I expect the Netherlands to at least make it onto the scoresheet. Therefore, my second Netherlands vs France betting tip is for both teams to score at a very reasonable price of even money with William Hill.

Anytime Scorer Tips

There really are a terrific selection of players on show this Monday, so it would be more than a little risky to take a punt on a first scorer on this particular occasion. With that being said, though, there are still plenty of options available in the anytime scorer market and Dutchman Davy Klaassen looks outstanding value at 41/10 with 888Sport to score during the 90 minutes and complete our winning Holland vs France betting tips. The Ajax man has a terrific goalscoring record from attacking midfield and currently has five goals in eleven games for his club side so far this campaign, as well as finishing the 2015/16 season with five in his last ten appearances. In addition to this, Klaassen also scored Holland’s third of the match last week and is certainly worth a punt at 41/10 this time round.
