Man Utd play Everton in Wayne Rooney’s testimonial this week and we’ve picked out some betting tips included in our football predictions for the match live on BT Sport.
On Wednesday 3rd August Everton make the short trip to Old Trafford to compete in Wayne Rooney’s testimonial, the match is due to kick-off at 8pm and all the proceeds will be going to The Wayne Rooney Foundation and distributed between four charities -the NSPCC, Claire House Children's hospice, Alder Hey Children's hospital and the Manchester United Foundation.
Man Utd vs Everton Preview
Manchester United
Despite this being labelled as a testimonial match we’re expecting to see a more traditional friendly give that the start of the Premier League season is only 11 days away and Manchester United are in action against Leicester in the Community Shield on Sunday. United have had a disrupted pre-season with their trip to China proving a nightmare following the cancellation of their friendly with Manchester City. They were thrashed by Borussia Dortmund but did beat Galatasaray 5-2 at the weekend with Zlatan Ibrahimovic taking just four minutes to get on the scoresheet.
Everton
Everton had a mini tournament in Germany this weekend, they were beaten 2-1 by the hosts Dynamo Dresden and lost on penalties after a 1-1 draw with Real Betis less than 24 hours after. Prior to that they comfortably saw off Barnsley and MK Dons, scoring three goals in each of those two games. There is still a lot of uncertainty surround the future of John Stones and Romelu Lukaku in particular so it will be interesting to see if either of these are in the Everton starting line-up against Manchester United in this testimonial.
Everton will be desperate to keep hold of star man Romelu Lukaku this summer.
Man United vs Everton Predictions
As ever with friendly matches, it is hard to predict the result of such a fixture, given than it is Wayne Rooney’s testimonial makes it even tougher. The starting line-ups will be interesting; I’m expecting new Everton manager to pick a strong Everton team so the likes of Ross Barkley, Kevin Mirallas and Gerard Deulofeu should all start in an attacking midfield trio. With it being a testimonial we could see a lot of goals so my first Man United v Everton prediction is for both teams to score. The odds for this are short at 4/7 (bet365) so I’d advise coupling that with a Manchester United win.
Manchester United to win and both teams to score – 21/10 with bet365.
There are currently no betting odds for first and anytime goalscorer bets in Wayne Rooney’s testimonial this week but that could change and if it does then Rooney would be the obvious choice for a first goalscorer bet.
Given that my first football tip has stated I am expecting goals, my second Man Utd vs Everton betting tip is going to be for Man United to score in both halves of the match. There are likely to be a lot of second half substitutions so the combination of players wanting to impress and some second string defenders been on the pitch means this bet should be an easy winner.
Manchester United to score in both halves – 13/10 with Betfred.
Man United vs Everton Bookmaker Betting Tips
One bet that you cannot afford to miss for this match is the enhanced odds offer of 5/1 for Man United to beat Everton. My football predictions have tipped up a Man United win and a £10 bet on this offer will win you £50 compared to the £7.50 you’d win from a £10 bet at the normal betting odds of 4/6 for Man United to win Wayne Rooney’s testimonial against Everton.
