Die Wolfe’s domestic form started off well enough in a typical 2-1 win over Eintracht Franfurt on the opening day, but Dieter Hecking has yet to see his team find the goalscoring form that propelled them to second place last year.

 

Polish striker Lewandowski scored an unprecedented five goals in just nine minutes to secure a thumping 5-1 victory for Munich over Hecking’s team midweek, and this was followed by a limp 1-1 draw against Hannover 96 on Sunday.

 

Wolfsburg did manage to beat CSKA Moscow at home in their Champions League opener, but only by a single goal. They will need to show much more clinical finishing if they are to get anything at Old Trafford.
