However, despite this win their form still remains extremely patchy and they still sit a whole nine points outside the Champions League places. Although a victory tonight would cut this gap to six, Jurgen Klopp has already conceded that his side's best chances of qualifying for Europe's elite competition will be from winning the Europa League this season. 

 

For Manchester City, they head into the match following back to back home defeats to both of their main rivals in the Premier League. City now sit 10 points behind leaders Leicester and need to produce a near-flawless finish to the season if they are to have any chance of chasing down the team's above them. Obviously a trip to Liverpool isn't the easiest place to stop the rot, but Manuel Pellegrini's side then face consecutive games against Aston Villa and Norwich, so three points at Anfield could prove crucial 

 

Heading into the clash and the bookies have very little to separating the two sides. Liverpool are marginal favourites at a best price of 7/4. City can be backed at 15/8, with the draw on offer at 12/5.

 

Decision time for tonight’s betting tips for Liverpool v Man City, and based on how the team's performed at the weekend I can see this one ending all-square. Following that disappointing result, I wouldn't be surprised if the Anfield atmosphere was a little subdued on Wednesday, but if The Reds can start the game quickly they could have every chance of getting the crowd behind them snatching the three points.
