Leicester vs Everton Predictions, Betting Tips and Preview

Leicester vs Everton predictions and football betting tips for the Premier League Boxing Day fixture. See our tipsters’ selections, best odds and team news.

There’s a near-full schedule of action in the Premier League this Boxing Day, with arguably the tie of the day featuring last season’s Premier League Champions, Leicester and their home tie with Everton. The match is a 15:00 kick off at the King Power and here is our match preview and betting tips ahead of that clash.

With neither side in great form this encounter already looks a particularly difficult game to predict this Boxing Day. Both Leicester and Everton head into the match off the back of disappointing results last week and will be desperate to gain some momentum ahead of a busy schedule of fixtures over the festive period.

Leicester

The hosts have struggled to get anywhere near the heights of last season’s heroics and are currently just three points outside the relegation zone heading into Christmas. Despite performing superbly in the Champion’s League and qualifying as group winners, The Foxes have struggled for any kind of consistency in the Premier League this campaign and have yet to even win two games back to back. Although Leicester produced their finest display of the season so far a fortnight ago in the 4-2 demolition of Manchester City, this was then followed up by a 1-0 defeat away to Bournemouth which only serves to highlight their unpredictability this year.

Everton

Visitors, Everton actually started the season in terrific form after taking 13 points from a possible 15, but have totally fallen to pieces since then and have now only won twice in their last 12 matches. However, the fixture list wasn’t exactly kind to The Toffees over the last couple of months so it’s certainly worth taking some of those numbers with a pinch of salt. Nevertheless, like their opponents this Boxing Day, inconsistency has been the main issue with Ronald Koeman’s side this campaign and this was perfectly encapsulated by their lacklustre display in the Merseyside Derby defeat to Liverpool on Monday, only days after a stunning comeback at home to Arsenal the week before.

Leicester Team News

Claudio Ranieri’s side head into Boxing Day with only a few injuries and suspensions to contend with. At the back, both Robert Huth and Christian Fuchs are both suspended and not available to return until New Years Eve. In midfield Danny Drinkwater is struggling with a knee injury and will be assessed over the next couple of days, with Jamie Vardy also set to miss out following his idiotic red card against Stoke last week.

Everton Team News

Ronald Koeman is likely to be sweating over the fitness of keeper Martin Stekelenburg after the Dutchman limped off in the Merseyside Derby defeat to Liverpool. However, it is in midfield where Everton have most of their worries after James McCarthy recently joined long-term absences Yanick Bolasie and Muhamed Besic on the sidelines.

Leicester vs Everton Predictions

Heading into the match and there is little to separate the two teams in the eyes of the bookies. Leicester are marginal favourites to pick up the three points at a best-priced 8/5 with Paddy Power. Everton are trading at slightly longer odds of 21/10 with Bet Victor, with the draw on offer at 12/5 with the same bookmaker.

As previously mentioned, this is a tough one to call with neither side really standing out at present. The last four matches between the two teams have all been closely contested with scores of 2-2, 2-2, 3-2 and 3-1, therefore, I think the smart money might be to back the draw. Despite being just outside the relegation zone, Leicester have still been tough to beat at the King Power and have only been beaten there the once this season. Everton have lost their last four matches on the road and I can’t see them having enough about them to take the points here, even if they have the better players on paper. With all this in mind, my first Leicester vs Everton prediction is to back the draw outright at 12/5 with Bet Victor.

Both Teams to Score Tips

Moving over to the BTTS market and this one looks a prime candidate for both teams finding the net. The hosts have played out eight BTTS results in their last nine matches and have only managed to keep three clean sheets since the start of the campaign. Everton have seen both teams score in four of their last six games and have only managed to register one shutout away from home so far this season. In addition to these encouraging statistics, the last six matches in a row between the pair have all finished with a BTTS outcome as well. At 3/4 with Betfair, this should be well worth considering for our second Leicester vs Everton betting tip even if it is a touch on the short side.

Anytime Goalscorer Tips

Finally, for a little dabble in the goalscoring market and Islam Slimani might well be worth a punt to find the scoresheet in this one. The Algerian international hasn’t exactly set the world alight this season, but he has still managed to score five goals in eight appearances on home soil this campaign, which actually equates to quite a respectable strike-rate – even if he can’t hit a barn door away from home. At 19/10 with Coral, back Slimani to score anytime in the 90 minutes to complete our Boxing Day predictions for Leicester vs Everton.
