Liverpool played out a ridiculous 9-goal thriller against Norwich last time in the League, but is it too much to ask for the same again versus high-flying Leicester?

 

Claudio Ranieri’s Foxes are defying all the odds, and their form shows absolutely no signs of abating anytime soon. They took apart Stoke last time out in the Premier League, in a game that was billed as a tricky tie for the League leaders. But, yet again Leicester City showed their class and coasted to a 3-0 victory.

 

However, City were dumped out of the FA Cup midweek after losing 2-0 to title rivals Tottenham Hotspur, but I doubt this will dent their confidence even slightly. It may in fact galvanise the squad as they can now focus solely on their unlikely run-in towards the Premier League crown.

 

Liverpool, a team who have desperately sought the title for so many years, have no chance of winning it this year. Despite what their fans may tell you. It’s not their year at all.

However, Jurgen Klopp has improved the performances marginally, and they are at least looking like a threat in attack again. However, the form of Christian Benteke has seen the Belgian occupy the bench more often than not, and it is surprising that the German manager has not invested in a top-quality goal machine in the January transfer window.

 

As is required for any title winning side, Leicester City have a decent record against the so-called big teams, and their match up with Liverpool should be an extremely even affair. It’s extremely hard to call the result for my Premier League predictions this week given that Liverpool barely nicked the reverse fixture at Anfield by a single goal to nil.

I have a feeling that this match will be far less cagey than the performance at Anfield, and I think we should be treated to a midweek goal-fest. It probably won’t be a nine goal thriller like Liverpool’s last League encounter with Norwich City, but given the way both teams are playing at the moment, and the form of both side’s attackers, I’m inclined to think that both teams are going to find the back of the net at least once.
