Italy play Japan in the Confederations Cup this evening and defeat for Japan would all but end their tournament after defeat to Brazil in their opening match.

In their opening match against Mexico Italy were quite impressive, Mario Balotelli was the best player on the pitch and got rewarded with the winning goal while Andrea Pirlo once again put in an effortless display in the middle of the park. Pirlo, De Rossi and Montilivo provide a great three across the middle of the pitch and this is where most of the Italian’s threat comes from.
