Hull City vs Manchester City betting tips and predictions for the Premier League lunch-time game on Saturday.
Manchester City must have almost forgotten what it’s like to play a Premier League game, but they really have to hit the ground running now. While rivals such as Chelsea stole a march on them, City had a mixed time of it by winning the League Cup but losing to Wigan last weekend and being dumped out of the FA Cup.

As for Hull, they have exceeded expectations in their return to the top division, with a good home record and a miserly defence being the main reasons for their success. However, they can’t ease off now with just five points being the difference between the seemingly comfortable 13th position they occupy and Cardiff in 18th place, and unfortunately it does seem like they are wearing down a bit. Just three wins in their last 10 games and one win in their last seven at the KC Stadium will have Steve Bruce worrying, while shipping eight goals in their last four home games is not in character with previous behaviour this season.
While I think Hull will be clear of the drop zone in May, Saturday’s game should see City taking the points (4/7). They’re unbeaten in their last seven away league games and while of course they had a tough match in Barcelona on Wednesday night, Manuel Pellegrini will be keen to focus minds on the task in hand. I think they’ll get themselves back on track and re-establish their title credentials.
With Sergio Aguero a doubt due to a hamstring injury, it’ll take others to step up to the mark to provide goals, and I can see Alvaro Negredo using this match to regain his form. He has struggled since he received a shoulder injury and hasn’t started as many games as he’d like, but he should be the pick with Aguero out and can provide the opening goal to set City on their way. Negredo to score first is our football betting tip for the match.
City will obviously dictate the play for most of the game while Hull will play on the counter attack looking to catch out a sometimes ponderous defence. With Shane Long’s continuous running and pressure on the backline, he is the most likely to catch out Demichelis and Kompany, much like Fabio Borini did at Wembley.
Due to my confidence that there will be goals for both teams here, I’m going to back exactly that and pair it with a City win. The Blues are bound to be fragile after a tough week, and while they’ll have a few hairy moments on Humberside, their talent will eventually win the day.
