Germany vs France – Three Reasons Why France will Beat Germany

France play Germany tonight and our football tipster has picked out three reasons why France will win tonight’s second Euro 2016 semi-final.

 

This game sees two or the original favourites go head to head in this semi-final as only one of them can reach the final of Euro 2016. France have been favourites since before a ball was kicked as the home nation but a poor defence throughout has meant they have leaked goals and do look a little shaky. Germany haven’t been tested too much, they have outplayed teams at times but did seem to struggle to overpower Italy in their last quarter final.

 

Home Support

The first reason I believe France can win this game is purely because of the home fans behind them. They are playing in their home nation and have the most fans around them, the players are in their own country so will surely feel more relaxed than any others at the competition. The support they have received in the grounds, around the grounds and just from the country as a whole can really lift a team and help them perform at that next level. France are already capable of playing top class football and with the home support behind them, they can be lifted higher and hopefully use that to win.

Germany Absentees

The second reason that makes me think that France can win this games is the players Germany are missing. Already confirmed out of the tie are Mario Gomez, Sami Khedira and Matts Hummels which is essentially the spine of the time. Mario Gomez has scored twice so far and has been the main man up front recently and with good reason, Muller has yet to register a goal this tournament and if he starts up front instead, as we expect he will, then we will rely on a lack of confidence and hope he doesn't score now. However, a goal for him to score is something to consider, is he finally due? Khedira has been a rock in the midfield so far, but with him missing through injury the midfield area now opens up and Pogba/Kante will want to work hard in there to disrupt play and progress it up the pitch. Finally, without Hummels Germany will most look towards Mustafi to fill in the gap at the back as he did in the first game, he played really well so this area may not be too weak for the Germans but these points are something to definitely consider.

Goalscoring Power

My third and final reason on why I believe France can win this game is the ability that France have to outscore opponents. They have been a little leaky at the back so far and they know this is their weakness, maybe leaving Sakho at home after his ban was lifted has come back to haunt them. However, as dodgy as they can be at the back they have always been able to outscore opponents. Kante has been brilliant in breaking up play so far and passing the ball forward to the technically better players with the likes of Payet continuing to be incredible and improve on his amazing season. Griezmann has continued his fine form and is now the leading goalscorer and we haven't even mentioned half of the squad who are doing their jobs just as well in the attacking positions. The ability in these players, and they have proven that if they concede one they can go and score two, this is something they may need to continue against Germany.
