Weekend Football Accumulator Tip:

Arsenal to beat Middlesbrough

Despite a disappointing defeat to North-London rivals Spurs last weekend, Arsenal have enjoyed a good run of late, in both league and cup, and will fancy their chances at retaining the trophy with a number of the big clubs having already been dumped out the cup. The visitors were at the centre of a shock result in the previous round, having knocked out Manchester City, and flying high in the Championship will come into this with plenty of confidence that they can produce another major upset. Despite this, this should prove a step too far for the promotion hopefuls, with Arsenal expected to highlight the gap between the two sides as they so often do at home, where they remain a formidable outfit.

Valencia to beat Getafe

Valencia continue to occupy the last Champions League spot thanks to three wins from their last four. They have turned the Mestalla into a fortress this season, with nine wins and just one defeat from 11 games, including a famous victory over Real Madrid last month. They are strong favourites to record a fifth successive win at home, against a side who have struggled on the road in recent weeks. Getafe find themselves down in 14th position, four points above the bottom three, and with just two wins away from home all season. The visitors have only managed nine goals on their travels, and staring at a third consecutive away defeat, all signs suggest a comfortable win for Valencia should be on the cards.

Villarreal to beat Rayo Vallecano

Villarreal remain well in the hunt for a European spot, and sit just three points off the Champions League places thanks to three wins from their last four. Their only defeat in that run came away at the Nou Camp where they came away with a lot of credit, losing out by the odd goal in five. Despite the fact they are without a win in their last three on the road, they boast the fourth best away record in the division, and have a great opportunity to pick up another victory when they travel to a Rayo Vallecano side hovering perilously close to the drop zone after three straight defeats. Their home form has been terrible with seven defeats and just two wins from 10, where they have managed just nine goals.

Atletico Madrid to beat Celta Vigo

Reigning La Liga champions Atletico Madrid produced a stunning display to beat city rivals Real last weekend, hammering the European Cup holders 4-0 to record their fourth successive win and keep their title challenge alive. Off the back of this, it seems only right to stick with the side that will be full of confidence when they head to Celta Vigo this weekend in search of another three points. Madrid’s away form has been solid, with six wins from 10, and having failed to win just six of 22 this season, look good value for the win. The hosts sit comfortably in mid table at present; however know a bad run could see them dragged back into the relegation battle with just six points separating them from the bottom three.

Lyon to beat Lorient

Lyon continue to lead Ligue 1 following a couple of hard-fought results in recent weeks. Last weekend’s draw with champions PSG will have no doubt given them confidence that they continue their push for the title, and they look to have a good opportunity to return to winning ways with a trip to lowly Lorient. The visitors haven’t lost since the back end of November, and have picked up 10 points from their last four away games, with three successive clean sheets. Lorient meanwhile are struggling towards the other end of the table. With only two sides picking up less points at home than Lorient so far this season, this appears to be a very winnable game for the French leaders, with Lyon fancied to continue their impressive form and take the points.
