Everton vs Man Utd Betting Tips and Odds

Man Utd begin their 2012/13 Premier League campaign away to Everton on Monday evening in what should be high-octane action in front of the television cameras, not least because we might witness £24million acquisition Robin Van Persie make his debut for the Red Devils.

Man Utd start as 10/11 favourites to win the match with Paddy Power (get a free £50 bet here), Everton can be backed at 16/5 with Bet Victor (get £25 here), whilst the draw is available at 13/5 with Sportingbet (get a risk free £50 bet here).

The last meeting between these sides saw Man Utd surrender a two-goal lead as the match finished 4-4 and is now talked of as the defining moment in the race for last season’s title.  The result must have given Sir Alex Ferguson nightmares for weeks afterwards, and this time round he can expect an equally tough encounter, but will demand a much more assured and professional display from his players.  I would expect nothing less from United in this opener, and if star signings Kagawa and RVP make the starting line-up I wouldn’t bet against Fergie’s boys getting off to a flyer.

One thing United can be certain of is that Everton will prove to be ever difficult opponents, and with the attacking threat of Nikica Jelavic who impressed with his performances for Croatia at Euro 2012, the Toffees will be aiming to get their own season off to a winning start.  Jelavic scored nine goals in 13 appearances for the Goodison Park side last season, and his role needs to be a pivotal one for Everton once again this season.  If Everton are to start their Premier League campaign with a win, they must improve on a disappointing league record against United that has seen them win just one of the last 14 meetings between the clubs.

Early-season betting can be a perilous hobby but I have found a couple of good value bets in this fixture that can get some cash in the coffers.  The 4-4 draw last season saw Jelavic get on the score sheet twice, and at 12/5 with Stan James, he can be backed to find the net again.  And with the attacking talent on show from both teams, have a bet on both teams to score at 5/6 with Bet365.
