Both teams to score betting tips for the first round of Euro 2016 group stage matches at odds of 20/1 for the four games.
We’ve barely had time to digest a fantastic season of football, and now we’re faced with the prospect of another month’s action as Euro 16 gets underway this week in France. I don’t know about you guys, but I for one, am very excited!
Now that most of us have got our pre-tournament bets sized up, it’s time to cast our eye over the first round of fixtures in the group stage, and as always, we’ve come up with a BTTS 4-fold tip to hopefully set us up with a nice bankroll to negotiate the rest of the competition.
Due to their often cagey nature, international games can tend to be a little more infrequent in this particular market. However, the odds are potentially far more rewarding if you can get it right, and you will certainly notice a difference in price between these games and your usual weekend BTTS acca. To put this in perspective, our average BTTS 4-fold during the season would fetch a reasonable price of around 8/1. This particular 4-fold will return well over double that at 19/1 with bet365.

Euro 2016 Both Teams to Score Tips
Turkey v Croatia
I thought long and hard about kicking things off with England’s opening clash, but I’m going to try not to jinx matters and plump for the Group D match between Turkey and Croatia instead. Fatih Terim’s side finished strongly in qualifying – beating three of their main rivals in their final trio of games – but their goal record both for and against (14-9) suggests they may struggle to keep out the better teams in the competition. Unlike Turkey who set up a number of competitive friendlies against evenly matched teams in preparation, Croatia opted for the confidence-boosting approach ahead of the finals and played their last two games against Moldova and San Marino. Needless to say, neither of these yielded a BTTS outcome but Croatia did manage to plunder 10 goals past the hapless San Marino which is definitely better than most achieve. Although Ante Cacic’s men finished runners-up in their qualifying group, they have a strong spine to their team and look a decent outside punt at Euro 2016. From our both team to score tips perspective, though, Croatia did record BTTS outcomes in three of the four games against main qualifying rivals Italy and Norway, which like their opponents, shows they can be susceptible at the back against a higher calibre of opposition. With this in mind, back this game to get the ball rolling.
Germany v Ukraine
Our second choice for the first Euro 2016 BTTS tip features the World Champions Germany as they begin their campaign with a tricky looking tie against the Ukraine. Much has been made of the German’s rather patchy preparation ahead of the finals where they lost three friendlies against France, England and Slovakia. Joachim Lowe’s side have been haemorrhaging goals for some time now, conceding nine during their qualifying run and then a further eight in the five friendlies leading up to the tournament. Nevertheless, Germany seldom don’t turn up in big competitions and I certainly wouldn’t be surprised if they were still there and thereabouts this time next month. Opponents Ukraine were made to sweat before booking their place in France and needed a 3-1 aggregate win over Slovenia in order to secure their spot. Although Ukraine are far from the strongest team at the tournament, in Andriy Yarmolenko they have a player capable of walking into most sides in Europe, and they have also recorded back to back 4-3 and 3-1 results in their final two friendlies against both Romania and Albania. Considering the Romanians only conceded twice in qualifying and had the best defensive record of any other team, this certainly highlights Ukraine’s attacking prowess. Therefore, stick this one down as the next tick on the coupon.
Ireland v Sweden
The penultimate game in our 4-fold features a crucial match in the group of death as the two outsiders Ireland and Sweden go head to head. This clash is huge for both sides as defeat would leave either of them with a mountain to climb with ties against both Belgium and Italy to follow. With this in mind, I expect them both to have a real go at each other and we could be set for a very entertaining encounter. Ireland did brilliantly to progress from what was a truly horrid group in qualifying, but did need a playoff victory over Bosnia in order to book their place at the finals. Similarly, Sweden had to be bailed out by Zlatan Ibrahimovic once again, as he proved the difference in an evenly matched playoff tie against Denmark that ended with a 4-3 aggregate victory. However, Sweden perpetually struggle to keep out most established teams for over 90 minutes and their only clean sheets all through qualifying came against the minnows Moldova and Liechtenstein. The Irish have more than enough quality going forward, and with the likes of Shane Long on the break, have terrific outlet for counter attack as well. The last tie between the two sides finished 2-1 to Sweden a couple of years ago, and I can see another BTTS result this time round as well.
Belgium v Italy
We’re rounding things off in Group E once again as one of the tournament favourites Belgium take on an Italian side flying slightly under the radar. Although I am a little worried these two might be more than happy to play out a bore draw, the BTTS stats over their last handful of games are particularly overwhelming. Belgium have now seen BTTS results in their last seven matches in a row and have been conceding all manner of sloppy goals to the likes of Finland and Norway in recent friendlies. Although Italy have kept clean sheets in back to back games leading up to the competition, these were against Scotland and Hungary and they would probably struggle against your average pub side. However, Italy’s six matches before this all finished with both teams finding the net and Belgium actually beat the Italians 3-1 in a friendly only a matter of months ago. With any luck we could be in a position to cash out by this point anyway, so maybe just gauge how the game is playing out in the opening quarter before deciding whether to stick or twist.
