Northern Ireland will be heading over to France for the European Championships this summer and it is already considered an achievement for them just getting this far.
Although not many would have expected it, Northern Ireland only lost one game during the Euro 2016 qualifiers and that was late in 2014. Despite the decent form, they didn’t really play any big international teams and still haven’t faced anyone who are at the standard of fellow group C rivals.
Euro 2016 Group C:
Germany
Northern Ireland
Poland
Ukraine
Unfortunately, I will have to agree with most and put my Euro 2016 betting tips on Northern Ireland being eliminated in the group stage. It’s hard to see them progress due to the quality of the other three teams. Germany are undoubtedly the favourites of the group and when you compare the two squads its unbelievably one sided. Lewandowski will lead Poland from the front with a number of good players supporting him, a player who is leagues ahead of any Northern Ireland squad member. Even Ukraine will be fancied to finish third and above NI due to the quality in their squad. Northern Ireland have a handful of recognisable, Premier League players but have a number of the players playing in the lower tiers of English Football such as Will Grigg and Roy Carroll. I just don’t think they will be strong enough.
Northern Ireland will be hoping Will Grigg is on fire at Euro 2016.
Northern Ireland are currently best priced at 4/11 with Bet365 not to progress from the group and I think it is almost inevitable, however these tournaments always throw up a few upsets and anything can happen over a 90-minute match so there are some better value Euro 2016 predictions for our bets on Northern Ireland this summer.
Looking at the teams it’s difficult to see where NI will get a win from out of the three fixtures and it wouldn’t surprise many if they finished the group without a point. Germany, Ukraine and Poland will all fancy their chances of progressing undoubtedly and for that reason I don’t think they will go easy on the tournament debutants. Slightly better value that you can find on the market is Northern Ireland to finish bottom of group C, the best odds for this are currently 4/6 with Paddy Power and that’s my first Euro 2016 betting tip for Northern Ireland.
If you’re a Northern Ireland fan then you might be more ambitious and ignore my Euro 2016 tips, but realistically I think there’s some better value if you predict how many points the team will finish on. If you can’t see where NI will pick up a single point you can get them to finish on zero points and this is currently best priced with Ladbrokes at 3/1. If you think they could pick up a point, possibly against a team who may have already qualified or been eliminated depending on how the results go, the best price for this is 7/2 with Bet365.
But for the Northern Ireland fans out there, get your team to win all three group games at 150/1 with Ladbrokes!
