The Champions League final will be the first ever all German conclusion to Europe’s premier football competition and if the form of both sides through the tournament is anything to go by, we could be in for a real cracker on Saturday night.

Bayern Munich got to the Champions League final via a tough looking knock-out stage draw, however Arsenal provided their only scare when they won 2-0 in the return leg in Munich following Bayern’s 3-1 win at the Emirates. From there Bayern Munich beat Juventus 2-0 home and away, winning 4-0 on aggregate, then demolished then Champions League favourites Barcelona, winning 4-0 in Munich before settling for a 3-0 at Camp Nou in the second leg.

Borussia Dortmund’s path has been a bit more hairy. They drew 2-2 in Donetsk against Shakhtar before winning the return leg 3-0, then needed two late goals to scrape past Malaga in the quarter finals. The semi-final looked dead and buried after Lewandowski scored four times in a 4-1 home win, but the panic buttons were hit back in Mardid when Real Madrid finally got into a 2-0 lead with a few minutes left, Dortmund just about held on.
