England vs Scotland Prediction, Preview and Betting Tips

England play close rivals Scotland at Wembley on Wednesday and Roy Hodgson’s men will be keen to send the Scots home empty handed.

Looking at the betting for the match England are the strong favourites so for our betting tips we need to look elsewhere for the value. The last time these sides met Scotland won 1-0 at the old Wembley, but that was not enough after England had won the first leg of the Euro 2000 play-off 2-0 at Hampden Park.

England have named a strong squad for this friendly and after Wayne Rooney’s miraculous recover from the ‘injury’ that seen him miss the Community Shield, he is expected to lead the front line on Wednesday.

Rooney is 4/1 to score first at William Hill and if he scores 2nd you will get your stake refunded as a free bet under their ‘2nd chance promotion’.

England’s friendly record is in-different of late but they will want to be in tip-top form ahead of their World Cup qualifying matches next month. A recent 2-2 friendly draw in Brazil was credible despite being out played for almost all of the 90 minutes, less credible was the 1-1 draw vs the Republic of Ireland and 4-2 defeat against Sweden last year. The highlight was a 2-1 victory over Brazil at Wembley.

Scotland’s last match was a surprise and well deserved win in Croatia and they have won their last three friendly matches, against Australia, Luxembourg and Estonia.

It is hard to see Scotland leaving Wembley with a win but they are 8/1 (William Hill) to do so, the draw is 7/2 with Bet365 and England are a best price 4/9 at Bet Victor.

Scotland will likely start with Jordan Rhodes up front and the Blackburn striker is certainly capable of taking a chance should it come his way and England have only kept two clean sheets in their last nine matches. Both of those were against San Marino. Scotland have scored in four of their last five matches and can pinch a goal here, making both teams to score a viable bet at 5/4 (Bet Victor).

For a longer odds bet go with a correct score, both teams have scored in Scotland’s last four away matches so expect them to score, but England to win the match. England have won two of their last three friendlies at Wembley 2-1, that scoreline is 17/2 with Bet Victor.
