Denmark v Sweden preview and football bet tips for the Euro 2016 qualifying play-off second leg following Sweden’s 2-1 victory on Saturday night.
Scandinavian rivals Sweden and Denmark go head to head on Tuesday night with a place at Euro 2016 at stake. The Swedes hold a 2-1 aggregate lead, the Danes the away goal and home advantage. Tune into Sky Sports at 7:45pm and find out who will come out on top, here is our Denmark v Sweden preview for the vital clash.
Denmark v Sweden Predictions
Despite holding a slim advantage heading into the second leg, things could have been so much more comfortable for Sweden had they managed to hold on to their 2-0 lead. Denmark's late strike has completely changed the whole complexion of the tie, with a mere 1-0 now being enough to put the hosts through to next summer's tournament.
In fairness to the Danes, they did perform well on the night and would have been unfortunate to have lost by a two goal margin based on their possession and overall play. Nevertheless, it was Zlatan Ibrahimović’s penalty that proved to be the difference between the two sides, and but for a world class save from Kasper Schmeichel just before half-time, the PSG man could have put the tie out of reach.
Heading into the clash and Denmark's form is going to have to dramatically improve if they are to have any chance of overturning the deficit they face and make it to Euro 2016 next summer. Morten Olsen's men haven't won in their last five matches, with his side's away goal in Solna being only their second in during this period.
The best odds for Denmark vs Sweden currently have Denmark trading as best price favourites at 6/5. Sweden can be backed at 11/4, with the draw on offer at 5/2.
This certainly isn't the easiest result to call for my football tips this week due to the nature of the tie and the derby style atmosphere that surrounds the two countries. On the face of it, the sides are very evenly matched if Zlatan Ibrahimovic is taken out of the equation. As with most world class players, though, his performance is likely to go a long way towards determining the result and I can see Sweden qualifying for Euro 2016 come the end of the night.
With this in mind, my first Denmark v Sweden prediction is for the match to end as a draw at 23/10 with Paddy Power and the second betting tip is for Zlatan to score anytime in the match at 13/8 with the same bookmaker. Paddy Power currently run a nice little promotion whereby if you spend £20 pre-match, they reward you with £10 to use in-play.
Open a PADDY POWER account here > bet £10 > win or lose get a £30 free bet > get £10 free in-play when you bet £20 before kick-off.
Finally, for a bit of a longshot and the current score line certainly opens up the opportunity of a penalty shootout. Sky Bet are currently offering a huge price of 20/1 for either side to win on penalties, or 40/1 for the side of your choice to progress via this outcome. Having already stated I fancy Sweden to progress, I can't back out now.
My third Denmark v Sweden prediction is for a small stake outside bet of Sweden to win on penalties, the best odds for this are 40/1 with Sky Bet.
