Despite being linked with the services of in-demand Olympique Lyonnais striker – Alexandre Lacazette – for what seemed like the whole summer, Arsene Wenger has finally landed a marquee centre-forward down at the Emirates this transfer window – but he may not admittedly arrive as the man all Arsenal fans were hoping for in the run up to the 2016/17 Premier League campaign.
Lucas Perez enters the fray at the Emirates on the back of a substantial £17 million move from Deportivo La Caruna this summer, and whilst the 27-year-old Spaniard may fail to announce himself as the big name megastar Gunners supporters have constantly been calling out for these past few seasons, perhaps the former Rayo Vallecano and PAOK striker could indeed begin to thrive at Arsenal if handed the right kind of opportunity.
Although some Gunners fans have clearly missed the boat on the supposedly rising status of Lucas Perez in recent weeks…
Who is Lucas Perez?
Literally never heard of him. #afc— Piers Morgan (@piersmorgan) 25 August 2016
…most have nonetheless greeted the £17 million man with opens arms among the English top-flight…
Welcome to Arsenal @LP10oficial, hope you can settle in quickly and hit the ground running, good luck!

Yet even though the Spaniard’s recent stats certainly make for decent reading down at the Emirates this summer…
Lucas Pérez: Has scored or assisted more goals (27) than any other Spanish player in La Liga since the start of last season

…some nonetheless believe he’ll ultimately fail to hit the ground running in 2016/17…
Arsenal fans really think Lucas Perez is a better CF than Olivier Giroud? Let's see who finishes the season as the teams first choice CF

Arsenal fans are already preparing their material once their club’s latest striking acquisition is finally ready to make his first steps on Premier League soil…
ONE LUCAS PEREZ,
HE CAME FROM SUNNY SPAIN,
HES BETTER THAN HARRY KANE,
ONE LUCAS PEREZ!#WelcomePerez— Wilshoholic (@Wilshoholic) 30 August 2016
…but despite arriving with a relatively impressive goal record from Deportivo La Caruna last season…
…don’t be surprised if the Gunners are left expecting more from the striker once the initial novelty surrounding his £17 million move is eventually laid to rest…
Lucas Perez is Wenger's worse signing since Mikael Silvestre. I hope he proves me wrong but I'm 99.9% sure he's going to be a flop.
