Chelsea vs Bournemouth betting tips and predictions for the Boxing Day Premier League fixture with the best odds and reasons for each bet.
League leaders Chelsea face Eddie Howe’s Bournemouth on Boxing Day in a meeting between two managers who have done fantastically well this season. Here are some tips and predictions for the traditional 3pm kick-off.
Chelsea come into this game of the back of three 1-0 victories and are on the hunt for their twelfth win in a row in the Premier League. The omen’s are good for Chelsea fans as in the past twelve seasons 75% of teams who have been top at Christmas have finished Champions and Chelsea themselves have been in this position before so they are in comfortable territory. They have been playing excellent football throughout the season however in the past few weeks they have grinded out results when they haven’t been playing well and this is the hallmark of Champions. They also have back to back home games over the festive period so they will expect to enter the New Year top of the tree.
Bournemouth are sitting comfortably in 10th place at the moment and are above the likes of Champions Leicester and FA cup finalists Crystal Palace in the league and this shows what a remarkable job Eddie Howe has done. I don’t think anyone will argue with the fact that if Eddie Howe does stay at Vitality Stadium then they will be an established Premier League team within a few years. They do blow hot and cold though as shown in their last four league games. They gained memorable wins over Leicester and Liverpool at home but were poor against Burnley and Southampton and it will be interesting to see what Bournemouth side turn up on Stamford Bridge on Boxing Day. They will be boosted with the fact that both N’Golo Kante and Diego Costa are out of the match with suspension and they will both be a huge miss for Antonio Conte’s men.
Chelsea vs Bournemouth Predictions
I think it’s hard to look past Chelsea for this match considering how Bournemouth will play. We all know that they like to play attractive football and I think this will play straight into Conte’s hands and that should mean that we see lots of goals. I think Chelsea will win but I wouldn’t be a good tipster if I just tipped that so I will be doubling it up with over 2.5 goals and this is Evens with Coral for our first Chelsea vs Bournemouth betting tip. (This has happened in eight of Chelsea’s premier league matches already this season so I think this is fantastic value).
My second Chelsea vs Bournemouth betting tip is going to be in the anytime goal scorer market and I am going to steer away from the obvious options and go with a player who has played out of his skin so far this season and that is Victor Moses. He has been fantastic in the right wing-back role this season and has chipped in with a couple of goals and I can see him doing the same here. He is 19/5 to score at any point in the match with William Hill and that’s our second Chelsea vs Bournemouth prediction.
Chelsea vs Bournemouth Team News
Antonio Conte said in his press conference on Thursday that everyone bar John Terry was fit for the game on Monday however as mentioned previously both Diego Costa and N’Golo Kante will be missing through suspension and it will give the likes of Michy Batshuayi and Cesc Fabregas the chance to impress their manager. Bournemouth have doubts over Andrew Surman and Junior Stanislas but Jack Wilshere will almost definitely be in the starting eleven after impressing in the defeat against Southampton.
Chelsea vs Bournemouth Head to Head Stats
Bournemouth produced one of the shocks of the season last year when they beat Chelsea 1-0 at Stamford Bridge last December and it would be an even bigger shock if it were to happen on Boxing Day. Chelsea did get their revenge when they won 4-1 away from home thanks to an Eden Hazard brace.
Chelsea vs Bournemouth Betting Odds
Chelsea are heavy favourites for this match and are 2/5 with most bookmakers. The draw is best priced 4/1 at Bet Victor and a repeat of last season’s shock win for Bournemouth is 8/1 at Coral. Pedro opened the scoring when these two sides last met in April and he is 6/1 to do the same at Coral and my anytime scorer tip is 12/1 to open the scoring at Betfair.
