Chelsea to beat Schalke 2/5:

Chelsea will be desperate to bounce back from Saturday’s shock defeat away to Newcastle as they host Schalke. That was Chelsea’s first defeat in ten matches and they were getting some good form together until then. At the Bridge they have now won five of six matches this season and have looked good at home. Schalke have lost two of their last three matches and were beaten 3-0 by Chelsea when the two sides met two weeks ago.  The German team aren’t a bad side but Chelsea should have too much quality and get a result here.

Basel to beat Bucharest 3/5:

One of the less glamorous ties of Wednesday night but still important with Basel in touching distance of the top two. Basel have lost just one of their last fifteen matches and one of their last five at home. Both sides are top of their respective league with Basel arguably playing in the higher quality one. Steaua are yet to win in the Champions League this year and have already been beaten 3-0 and 4-0. The two sides drew when they last met but with home advantage, Basel should get a good win.

Napoli to beat Marseille 4/11:

Finally to Arsenal’s group and Napoli. Any other year Marseille would fancy themselves to progress in the Champions League but this time around have got an awful group and have lost all three games to date. Napoli have lost just one of their last six matches and have won thirteen of their last fifteen home games. Marseille are without a win in their last six games now and are having a real struggle. They have won just one of their last six on the road and against a Napoli side second in Serie A who beat them 2-1 at home, they should lose again.
