Celtic will host Premier League champions Leicester City on Saturday evening at Celtic Park in the International Champions Cup and our preview includes two betting predictions.
| Fixture | Celtic vs Leicester City |
|---|---|
| Competition | International Champions Cup |
| Kick-off time | 5.30pm, Saturday 23rd July |
| Venue | Celtic Park, Glasgow |
Celtic have played a couple more games than Leicester so far this pre-season due to the Champions League qualifiers against Gibraltar side Lincoln Red Imps. After Brendan Rodgers first game as Celtic manager was a shock defeat, he’s soon put things right with a 3-0 return leg win at Celtic Park where we correctly predicted the score in our preview, and a win over Wolfsburg last weekend.
Leicester have played the one game so far which was a 2-1 away win at Oxford. This game should definitely prove to be more difficult and although it is still a friendly, having a good run or even winning the International Champions cup could really help send a statement out to the rest of Europe before entering the Champions League for the first time.
Nevertheless, it is still a friendly and it is always difficult to predict what the starting 11’s will be. It gives the managers a great opportunity to field any new additions to the squad or even some youngsters.
Celtic vs Leicester City Predictions
Leicester are actually scheduled to play two fixtures on Saturday, one being this game against Celtic and other being against Nuneaton Town which is also a club friendly. I can imagine that the first team will be playing in this cup with a reserve side facing Nuneaton. Based on this I think Leicester should field a relatively strong side against the Scottish champions.
My first football prediction for Celtic vs Leicester is going to be Leicester to win. It will be a good opportunity to see if Leicester can pick up where they left off last season and with the best odds being 7/4 with Sky Bet they are definitely worth a punt, if you open a new Betfair account you will get 8/1 for Leicester to win using their enhanced odds offer.

Both these teams playing in a friendly makes me think there are going to be goals and the bookies must agree with both teams to score being as short as 4/7 with some. However, to add some extra value to this I’m going to tip an exciting second half.
Friendlies are an opportunity to go for it and it’s not the end of the world if you get beat. Both teams to score in the second half seems a good bet as the game opens up with some tired legs out there. The best odds for this are currently 2/1 again with Sky Bet.

My final Celtic vs Leicester prediction is a correct score bet and I think this is where the value is at. I am going to go for a correct score of 2-1 Leicester and I think that is a realistic and likely prediction at 9/1 with Paddy Power. Ideally 1-0 at half time and 2-1 at full time to land all three match predictions!
There is a market for a first goalscorer bet on this match but because it's hard to predict the starting line-ups it's a mrket we won't be delving into, however Celtic's Leigh Griffiths is the 5/1 (Betfred) favourite to score first. Ulloa and Mahrez are both 6/1 at bet365 to get the first goal of the match.
