Brazil Campeonato Betting Tips and Match Predictions – Round 6 Sunday

In part 2 of the Brazil Campeonato prediction we look towards the matches played throughout Sunday. Seven matches take place with the first kicking off at 1AM (GMT) and the last getting started at 22:30PM (GMT).

Portuguesa vs Cruzeiro – First up we go to Rio de Janeiro, with what will be a very interesting matchup. Both sides have started the season reasonably well, with only 1 loss each after the first five games. The home side, Portuguesa have looked very solid at the back, keeping 1 clean sheet and only conceding five goals in their first five games. Similarly, Cruzeiro have looked just as solid, although they seem to score more goals than their opposition, and from every area of the pitch, with defensive midfielder Nilton being there top scorer. Sao Paulo vs Santos – I think this game will be much easier to predict than the first. Sao Paulo are very solid at the back, and have only conceded 3 goals in their first 5 games. Santos, have struggled for goals, and have no real spark since their talisman Neymar departed. I expect this to be a formality for Sao Paulo, and I think they will win to nil which can be found at 6/4 (Bet365). Also, looking at the previous matches Sao Paulo score more goals in the second half, so I think that 11/10 (Bet365) for most the goals to be in the second half is a great opportunity to win some money.

Goias vs Vitoria – These two sides have had very different starts to the season. Newly promoted Vitoria find themselves in second place, and have the top scorer in the league, Maxi Biancucchi (Who happens to be Lionel Messi’s cousin.) Whereas, Goias are stuck in the relegation zone, and have only managed 1 win from their first 5 matches. I expect Vitoria to continue the great form they had prior to the one month break, and they can be found at crazy odds of 10/3 to win (Bet365). This shows that great odds can be found on these types of matches as some bookies have very little knowledge of the league.

Internacional vs Vasco Da Gama –This game is a tough one to predict, with both teams mid-table after the first five fixtures. They both seem to leak goals, but somehow find a way to get the results they need. I think Internacional may just edge it, as they have the better strike force in Diego Forlan and Leandro Daimao. I think there will be over 1.5 goals in the first half, which can be found at odds of 9/4 (Bet365). Also for this game I will look towards a score cast for some value and say Internacional will come out 2-1 winners, which is 15/2 (Bet365).

Bahia vs Corinthians – Both sides have only lost one of their first five, but Corinthians are a much stronger side so I expect them to come out victors in this match. Although Bahia are above them in the table, I expect them to drop off significantly and they may find themselves in a relegation battle towards the end of the season. Corinthians have struggled for goals this season, with ‘big’ signing Alexandre Pato repeatedly misfiring much like Fernando Torres did at the start of his Chelsea career. Despite this, I think Corinthians will get back to winning ways in this game, and have to start doing so soon if they are to mount a serious title challenge this season. The obvious option for the game is to go for the Corinthians win, which can be found at 13/10 (William Hill). Atletico Mineiro vs Criciuma – In the penultimate game of the week, I think once again this is an easy one to predict. Last year’s runners up, Mineiro are a much stronger side than newly promoted Criciuma. The main reason for Mineiro’s slow start to the season is the fact they have been playing in the Copa Libertadores and they’ve had numerous players missing on international duty. Both teams played in midweek, so Mineiro have no excuse not to be winning this game, and they cannot blame it on tiredness. The odds aren’t great on a Mineiro win so I think the best option is to back them to score in both halves which is priced 2/1 (William Hill). Botafogo RJ vs Fluminense RJ – Lastly, the final game this week looks to be a cracker, with two title contenders coming face to face. Both teams have had good starts and find themselves 3rd and 4th respectively. Although have been without Brazil superstar Fred for the last few games they have still managed to pick up the results they need to stay in touch with top of the league. Similarly, Botafogo have seen some great performances from Dutchman Clarence Seedorf and Uruguayan Nicolas Lodeiro that they will want to continue this with a good result against last year’s champions. Although Fluminense are favourites to retain their title I think Botafogo may just get the win as they have the home advantage and they’ve been in great form recently. I think the best value can be found with Botafogo to win and both teams to score which is a massive 4/1 (William Hill).
