Both Teams to Score Tips
Chelsea v Norwich
When the fixture list was drawn up before the start of the new Premier League season, if you’d have said that Norwich would be travelling to Stamford Bridge in November above Jose Mourinho’s team, the men in white coats would probably have been called. However, much to the delight of neutral fans everywhere, Chelsea’s easily-loathed Portuguese manager has had an absolute nightmare this season. Norwich may not have a good record for wins away from home since their leap up from the Championship, but they do have the knack for finding the net away from home. Their last four away from Carrow Road have seen a staggering 17 goals scored, with both teams notching in all four. Chelsea have conceded in 10 out of their 12 Premier League games, and I cannot see them keeping a clean sheet against anyone. This one has to go on your BTTS acca this weekend!
Newcastle v Leicester
Another weekend both teams to score tip involving Leicester City. And who can blame me! Under Claudio Ranieri, the Foxes have had a truly amazing start to the season. They occupy third place, and for a short while last weekend, they were joint top of the League! This form has not been built on a solid defensive platform, however. Leicester have conceded in all but one Premier League match so far, with a grand total of 20 goals scored against them. But what sets them aside is their ability to find the net. They have 25 from their opening 12 games, the second highest scoring record in the League. Newcastle by contrast have had a woeful campaign so far, but in recent weeks they have notched three wins from four, seeing them leap out of the relegation zone and into 17th place. Steve McLaren’s men don’t have a great scoring record, but against Leicester City at St James’ park, they will inevitably get a lot of chances. The Toon’s morale and confidence has been boosted by picking up nine points from 12, and I think when the two sides meet on Saturday, we should be in for a cracker.
Man City v Liverpool
The evening kick-off in the Premier League sees leaders Man City face off with a relatively rejuvenated Liverpool side. Jurgen Klopp has taken the reigns at Anfield and instilled a little bit of desire back into the Scouse dressing room. The German did suffer defeat in Liverpool’s last outing, a 2-1 loss to perennial parade-ruiners, Crystal Palace. However, a 3-1 win against Chelsea will have boosted the confidence around the Liverpool dressing room and I think that when they take to the pitch against Man City, the players will believe they can take something from the match. Manchester City were extremely unfortunate to not find the net against Aston Villa, hitting the bar, and narrowly missing several decent opportunities. City’s last four at home have all ended with both teams scoring, and Pellegrini likes his side to dominate at The Etihad whilst leaving themselves relatively thin at the back. The result of this has been Man City scoring 14 and conceding five at home. Seven of Liverpool’s last eight have finished with both teams finding the net, and I have high hopes of another BTTS winning tip here.
Get either 6/1 for Man City to win or 10/1 for Liverpool to win in our Manchester City v Liverpool betting preview.
Real Madrid v Barcelona
Our Saturday both teams to score tip ends with an absolute barnstormer as El Clasico makes its first appearance of the season. Luis Enrique’s Barca team lead Rafa Benitez’s Madrid side by three points, and a win for Real would see them leapfrog their arch rivals into the lead of the Spanish top flight. In terms of both teams to score, this match is as sure a bet as you can get. The last nine meetings between the two sides in the league have seen both teams find the net. In all competitions, a staggering 18 matches in a row have been played out in which both teams have scored. Real Madrid have conceded in three out of their last four. Both Madrid and Barca are pretty much scoring for fun, notching a combined 51 goals in just 11 La Liga games. Needless to say they are the League’s two highest scoring teams. This one is an absolute nailed on BTTS.
