The Premier League is beginning to take the shape we expected it to and this weekend will see the sides who have failed to hit the ground running in the first month aim to kick-start their campaign.
Southampton will consider themselves unfortunate following a difficult set of opening fixtures (they have played Manchester duo City & United, Arsenal & Wigan so far) but Nigel Adkins needs to learn that the Premier League is unforgiving. Whilst this weekend’s visit of improving Aston Villa does not represent a walk in the park, The Saints may look to capitalize against a side that is still adjusting to Paul Lambert’s more positive style of football. One likely outcome of this game is that there could be lots of goals (Both teams to Score is 8/11 with BetVictor). Southampton have shipped a colossal 14 in their opening four fixtures but have goal-scoring potential in Rickie Lambert, who’s opposite number at Villa Darren Bent is yet to open his account for the season. I expect both to threaten at St Mary’s on Saturday, with Bent an interesting prospect at 9/4 to Score at anytime with Stan James (open an account here and get £10 free).
Elsewhere, Chelsea will almost certainly get back to winning ways at home to Stoke, who have drawn all four of their opening games this season. The Blues followed up their bore draw at Loftus Road by sharing the spoils with Juventus back at the Bridge on Wednesday. Di Matteo knows that Chelsea have had a relatively straight forward start to the season with regards to opposition and will take no prisoners against the unbeaten Potters. Whilst Chelsea’s general price of 2/5 does not raise any eyebrows, Over 3 goals in the game is 7/4 with Bet365 (open a new account here and get £200 free) and should be a formality.
Saturday’s early kick off at the Liberty Stadium should produce something of a footballing showpiece, with Swansea entertaining Everton. Two teams who have started well this season will be keen to continue their momentum, and I fancy Swansea to kick back in to gear following last week’s defeat at Villa Park. David Moyes’ squad will be licking their wounds after the injustice they suffered in Monday night’s home tie with Newcastle and were also dealt a blow this week by the news that key forward Nikica Jelavic will be sidelined for at least two weeks with a knee injury. Swansea knew their strong start would have to end somewhere and will now move forward with more realistic goals. They may fancy their chances of beating Everton at home and their price of 12/5 with Sky Bet (no deposit free £10 bet here) is tempting.
Unbeaten title contenders Man City & Arsenal meet at the Etihad in one half of a mouthwatering Super Sunday program. It’s difficult to call but those who do fancy the Gunners to take home three points may be interested by the 4/1 on offer at Paddy Power (bet £10 get £20 free). Arsenal got the better result in midweek & have only conceded once so far this term. Lukas Podolski netted again in Montpellier to make it three in three for the German, and with City having failed to keep a clean sheet so far this term, his price of 3/1 To Score Anytime with Stan James is attractive.
Accumulator Betting Bonus
One continuous offer that often slips through the net is bet365’s Euro Soccer Accumulator bonus – it gives punters a % bonus on top of winning accas that contain games from selected Leagues in Europe and the Champions League, with the size of your bonus determined by the size of your multiple. The minimum sized accumulator to be affected is a treble & the games can be from the Premier League, Italian Serie A, German Bundesliga or Spanish Primera Liga as well as the UCL. For example a £5 four-fold on Man City, Swansea, West Brom & Southampton to draw would return 150.92 plus an extra 10% as cash in to your account. Further details including a chart of the corresponding bonuses & bet sizes can be found here.
