Benfica vs Besitkas Predictions, Betting Tips and Preview

Benfica vs Besiktas predictions and Champions League betting tips for Tuesday’s opening Group B fixture with the best odds for each selection.

The Champions League group stages begin this week and one of the two fixtures of group B is Benfica against Besiktas. The game will kick off at the usual time of 19:45 and will take place in Portugal at the Estádio do Sport Lisboa e Benfica.

Benfica have started their domestic campaign relatively strongly with ten points out of a possible 12. Despite a couple of defeats in the pre-season friendlies, since the competitive campaign got underway they have massively improved and look like the usual Benfica. Benfica gave it a good go in the Champions League last season before crashing out to Bayern Munich despite a brave effort and they will be looking to build on that.

It’s been a long absence from the Champions League for Besiktas with their last appearance being when they were knocked out of the final qualifying round by Arsenal 1-0 on aggregate in 2014. Since then they have been participating in the Europa League and it will be interesting to see how they have prepared to the step back up after a solid start to the season in Turkey, currently sat in second place after the first few fixtures.

Benfica vs Besiktas Predictions

Playing away against Portuguese sides has never been easy for any team over the years and I think Besiktas could struggle this week when they return to the Champions League. Although domestically the sides are very well matched, the elite teams in Europe; such as Bayern Munich have struggled against Benfica which makes me believe that they will be capable of a win on home turf.

My first Benfica vs Besiktas betting tip is going to be Benfica to win. I think that the bookies prices are fair when looking at both sides. The best odds for this are currently 8/11 with Sky Bet.

Raul Jimenez looks the inform man for Benfica at the moment scoring three in his last three for both club and country. The 25-year-old Mexican missed Friday night’s 2-1 win away at Arouca due to being last back from international duty as many other South American players were but I’m sure he will be looking to continue where he left off on Tuesday night.

First Goalscorer Tips

My second Champions League prediction is going to Jimenez to score first at a massive price of 6/1 with Paddy Power. Although Jonas is the recognisable favourite I feel like them odds are too good to turn down for a player who looks sharp at the moment.

Besiktas haven’t looked convincingly solid at the back so far this season conceding four goals in their last three games. However, the approach they seem to go for is to simply score more than the opponents and they have been doing just that netting nine in the last three games. I don’t think it will be as easy to score so many past a strong Benfica side and the shaky defence may show with Benfica’s attacking options.

Half-time/Full-time Tip

My third and final Benfica vs Besiktas prediction is going to be half time/full time – Benfica/Benfica. I think that Benfica will prove too much for the Turkish side and the best odds for this are currently 9/5 with Bet Victor.
