Barnsley host Everton in a pre-season friendly today and our predictions indicate a tight match but with Everton ultimately coming out on top.
These sides met in the League Cup 12 months ago and the match ended 3-3 with Everton ultimately triumphing 5-3 after extra time. It was a thrilling cup tie with Barnsley racing into 2-0 half-time lead. I don’t expect the same thing to happen in today’s friendly match but we could still see a few goals.

Barnsley have already played four friendlies this summer, and the results make very handsome reading. They’ve won 2-0, 2-0, 6-0 and 3-1. The first three were non=league opposition and the 3-1 win came over League Two Cheltenham Town.
Everton have only had one pre-season fixture so far, beating Jablonec 1-0 last weekend. They still haven’t made any major transfer additions despite the takeover but there is still time in the window. John Stones could appear against his former club and Ross Barkley is also back with the squad.

The last time these teams met we had a 3-3 draw, I can see some goals going in today as well, especially given Barnsley have already scored 13 in pre-season.
