Arsenal vs Stoke City Prediction and Football Betting Tips

Stoke City visit Arsenal on Sunday afternoon looking to follow on from their impressive performance against Man City last weekend and we have football tips.

The Potters are hoping to add to their encouraging start to the season, but will come up against an improving Gunners outfit aiming for their fourth win in five league games.

Stoke dominated large periods of the game against a strong Manchester City team. However, they failed to punish a strangely ordinary Man City defensive display, eventually seeing a 0-0 draw as their reward.

Prior to this game, Stoke City find themselves 7th in the Premier League table, having taken 7 points from a possible 12 available. Although, if you look closely at the 7 points won, 6 of those points have come from 2 tough wins against arguably two teams (West Ham and Crystal Palace) that will be battling in the lower regions of the league come the closing month of the season. With that said, Stoke City's current position in the table is nothing more than the majority of their faithful will have expected coming into the new season.

Mark Hughes seems to have steadied the ship somewhat since Tony Pulis' departure and Stoke's defensive frailties of last season seem to have been largely eradicated, having only conceded 3 goals in 4 league games. Although it’s still too early to say that all last season's problems are in the past.

As always, it’s Stoke City's strength in front of goal that will eventually see them come undone. And for that reason I still think they may struggle again this season.

On to the Gunners now, and all the talk this week has been about new signing Mesut Ozil and his stellar debut performance against Sunderland last weekend, but let’s not go floating his boat too early. There's still tougher opposition to contend with, but unfortunately for Stoke this should be another game in which we could see another shining performance from the young German.

Arsenal are on a good run of form so far this season, beating some good teams and scoring plenty of goals. The Gunners haven't failed to score in 18 games (including pre-season) and this game shouldn't be a worry for that streak coming to an end.

Arsenal haven't lost or drew at home to Stoke City since a 0-1 loss back in 1981. So why back against Arsenal here?!

The outright market see's Arsenal at an unbackable 2/5 (Bet Victor), while Stoke City are as short as 17/2 with William Hill. The draw is 4/1 with Bet365.

The Half Time/Full Time market is the value here. Arsenal/Arsenal can be picked up at a great 21/20 with Coral. Arsenal have scored both their goals at home this season in the first half. While Stoke are yet to score in the first half this season.

Secondly, with Stoke unlikely to cause the Arsenal defence much trouble, I'll be taking the 7/5 (Coral) on offer for Arsenal to win to nil.

Arsenal have so far this season scored 4 goals before the 30 minute mark and this game should be no different. The result after 30 minutes – Arsenal, is a lovely price of 7/5 with Ladbrokes.

Finally, as always I'm looking to the anytime scorer market, and who else but that man, Olivier Giroud. With 4 goals to his name already this season, Giroud is clearly in goal scoring form and there's no reason why this week should be any different. With odds of 11/10 thanks to Bwin, that's my bet of the week.
