Arsenal vs Crystal Palace Predictions, Betting Tips and Preview

Arsenal vs Crystal Palace betting tips and predictions for the New Year’s Day football with the best odds, team news and head to head stats for the fixture.

The 4pm fixture on New Year’s Day sees Crystal Palace make the short trip to the Emirates to face Arsenal and here are some tips and predictions for the game live on Sky Sports.

Arsenal got back to winning ways on Boxing Day when they defeated West Brom thanks to a late Oliver Giroud winner but it wasn’t a vintage Arsenal performance by any means. They looked like they lacked ideas and some pundits claimed that they looked tried a couple of weeks ago when they lost to Manchester City and I would agree with that after watching their last few games. However, they are still in the title hunt and currently sit in fourth place and with a favourable run of fixtures coming up it looks more than likely that they will be in the top four come early Spring.

Big Sam’s first game as Crystal Palace manager was a good result but it could have been a whole lot better if Christian Benteke learned to take a penalty. The big Belgian missed a penalty when the Eagles where 1-0 up and instead of cruising to a victory, Palace were made to work for a 1-1 draw against Watford. It’s obvious that Big Sam needs to work on his defence and I don’t think there is a better man for the job but it will be tough for him to start working with so many games around the festive period and a trip to the Emirates isn’t what he needed. He did mastermind a 0-0 draw when he was the manager of Sunderland last season against Arsene Wenger’s men and there is no doubt that he would take the same result on Sunday.

Arsenal vs Crystal Palace Predictions

My first Arsenal vs Crystal Palace prediction is going to be for both teams to score. Before the Boxing Day game against West Brom both teams have scored in Arsenal’s last eight Premier League games and this included teams in the bottom half of the table like Crystal Palace. Also, I think that we all know that Palace are quite good going forward and I think that they will have enough to at least grab a goal against the Gunners.  This is 19/20 at Bet365 and is enough to get my New Years’ day tips started.

My second Arsenal vs Crystal Palace betting tip is going to be for Christian Benteke to score at any time. I believe that most of the Arsenal players are way too short to score in the match and I won’t be tipping another odds on bet so Benteke seems like the best option to me. He has scored in three of his last four away games for Palace and 7/2 at Betfred is fantastic odds considering how good he is in the air against a frail Arsenal backline.

My third and final Arsenal vs Crystal Palace betting tip is going to be in the correct score market. I think Arsenal will be too strong for their opponents and as predicted already I think that Arsenal will concede so I am torn between 2-1 or 3-1 for my prediction. I am going to go for the latter as this is better odds and this is best priced 11/1 at Bet365 and this completes my Super Sunday tips.

Arsenal v Crystal Palace Team News

Arsenal’s English trio of Kieran Gibbs, Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will all be missing for the game on Sunday as they all recover from minor knocks. German summer signing Shkodran Mustafi is back in the squad and could go straight into the starting eleven after recovering from injury. As for Crystal Palace, they will be hopeful that Joe Ledley and James McArthur are both back in the squad after missing the Boxing Day draw with niggles. Christian Benteke will continue to lead the line even if he can’t take a penalty for love nor money.

Arsenal v Crystal Palace Head to Head

Crystal Palace scored a late equaliser in April to deny Arsenal all three points and sink their title hopes. However before that Arsenal had won four games in a row against the Eagles and will expect a similar result on New Years’ Day.

Arsenal v Crystal Palace Betting Odds

Arsenal are hot favourites for this match and are 1/3 to win at most bookies. A repeat of last year’s draw is 9/2 at Bet Victor and a shock Crystal Palace win is best priced 17/2 at Coral. Alexis Sanchez is 3/1 to open the scoring with Paddy Power but Alex Iwobi could be worth a punt at 7/1 with Betfred as he does seem to have a bigger impact on the team when they play at the Emirates.
