Saturday’s Accumulator Tips
Aston Villa to beat Fulham:
This season has been very consistent for Fulham. Consistently poor. The Whites haven’t won away from the cottage since Boxing Day, scoring just 5 goals outside of West-London. Why has this campaign been such a shambles? They’ve rummaged through 3 managers and used no fewer than 32 different players. With just one win in Felix Magath’s 6 game reign no “New manger syndrome” has been suffered here. Aston Villa’s season has been an interesting one to follow. They’re unbeaten against the top four, but have been docked points by each of the bottom three, so whilst Fulham have been consistently poor, Villa haven’t been consistent at all. Villa’s home form has been rich in recent times, 3 wins in 6, averaging at more than a goal than a game.
Chelsea to beat Stoke:
After last weeks, absolute catastrophe at Selhurst Park, The Blues title chances are well and truly on the rocks, so this Saturday is the last chance saloon for Mourinho’s men. Assuming City win their 2 games in hand, Chelsea will be 2 places and 4 points off the top, and with just 6 games to go they really cannot afford anymore slip ups, but they’re back at the bridge and with Mourinho’s famous unbeaten league home record still intact, it really is asking a lot for Stoke to take anything from their trip to London.
Blackpool to beat Yeovil:
After a brilliant start to the Championship, Blackpool found themselves with just one loss after 16 games. Since then Blackpool have played 24 football matches and 16 of those have ended in losses. In that period managers have been swapped and the revolving door that is the transfer window has been in full effect, in most notably the case of Thomas Ince, ex-manager Paul’s son, to Crystal Palace on loan. Things are on the up though. Recent results against QPR, Huddersfield and Millwall. Yeovil on the other hand have done exceedingly well to even still be in with a chance of safety. After many years of scraping survival in League One The Glovers suppressed all expectations and after being once again tipped for relegation managed to gain promotion via the lottery that is the play offs. 1350 hours of football have been played since The Glovers won away from Huish Park. This tells me it’s Blackpool’s to lose.
Wigan to beat Leeds:
Wigan are one of the form teams in England’s second division. They are 10 games unbeaten at the DW Stadium, and after a great 2-2 draw with leaders Leicester, they look good for a play-off spot. Uwe Rosler deserves a huge amount of credit for the job he’s done for The Lactics, and in particular their famous victory against Man City in the FA Cup. Their opposition this week comes in the form of Leeds United. If the season started 6 games ago Leeds would be sitting anxiously in the relegation zone, and whilst the Massimo Cellino takeover saga drags on, it’s hard to see the Yorkshire side getting anything out of this one so Wigan are the pick for our weekend accumulator tip.
Reading to beat Charlton:
Reading’s home and away form have been like night and day. 3 points haven’t been secured at home since January; whilst away they’re unbeaten in their last 5! They’re currently just scraping into the play-offs but Brighton, Ipswich and Forest are breathing straight down their necks. Adkins is a superb manager and exactly knows what it takes to take a team to the Premier League, as he showed with Southampton. Charlton are 3 points away from the drop zone, although they do have the luxury of a game in hand. The Addicks boss Riga looks like he knows what he’s doing after picking up his second victory in the midweek fixtures, but I think the royals have enough quality to see of Charlton here.
