Liverpool have won their last seven in the league and have been scoring goals for fun in the process. The attacking threat of Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge has proved too much for most defences to handle this season, and after Sturridge’s goal against Sunderland last night both strikers now have 20 goals for the campaign, the first time a Liverpool pair have managed that feat in 50 years. The Red’s sit one point off top spot as we roll into the business end of the season, and whilst Manchester City hold the advantage in the title race of having games in hand Liverpool are in a great position, and one which their fans probably didn’t expect to be in back in August.

Whilst Liverpool have surpassed pre-season expectations, Tottenham have not performed as most would have expected them to this year. They spent a huge amount of money over the summer, and bought in a number of high profile players who have not quite gelled, and as it stands sixth place will certainly go down as an underachievement. They do possess a number of quality players and can cause sides problems on their day, but I cannot see them getting a result at Anfield this weekend when considering a match prediction.

Suarez and Sturridge have scored more goals between them than most sides in the Premier League have managed all season, so it is no surprise that they are at the top of all of the goalscoring betting markets week in week out. Suarez can be backed at 3/1 with Sky Bet to score the first in this one, and although he has been perhaps quieter than usual over the last few weeks this should be seen as great value. Sturridge can be found at 4/1 with Ladbrokes, another bet which would represent good value such is the potency of these two men. Steven Gerrard has been in the goals this season as well and at 8/1 (also with Ladbrokes) could be considered an outside bet. He is a constant danger from set pieces and scored a beautiful free kick against Sunderland in the week.

One area where Liverpool have struggled this season is at the back, so Tottenham will have every chance of causing them some problems.
