Sports betting is far from a new industry, with bookmakers across the world having been taking bets on sports for many decades yet it in the last ten years or so its growth has been of meteoric proportions. The industry has come a very long way from the local bookmakers on the high street taking bets on the horses, football results and whatever else they have on offer.
Since the internet came to us the sports betting has managed to take advantage of the ability for people to have information delivered straight to their homes. This has allowed people to place bets online rather than have to walk out of the home in order to find their way to a local bookmaker.
The type of betting had changed too as now people can bet ‘live’. This means somebody could have live odds up on the screen on bets such as who will be the next scorer in the match, the next player to get booked or what the score will be, come half time in the match.
Everything is done via the net and is far easier for people to enjoy. It is because of this that the industry has grown so large, the freedom for anyone to have a little flutter from time to time. Even more women are coming into sports betting, something that was far more difficult before, simply because women did not feel comfortable with the atmosphere in the bookmakers.
The poker industry is another that has come on in leaps and bounds due to the internet. Online poker sites have given people who in the past may not have fancied going to the local casino the ability to play online. This industry has also seen a sharp rise in the amount of female players that now play for very much the same reasons as those in sports betting.
Many of the world’s most successful poker players of this generation all came from playing poker online. Many are now touring the world as a result and it all stems from how large the industry has grown in the last ten or so years.
The game is ever evolving too, with new poker variations coming out all of the time. There is now Rush poker that enables players to see so many more hands per hour, Flipout tournaments that mean players are just one hand away from being paid money and the ability for players to enter many freeroll events.
Both the online casino industry and poker industry look set to continue in their growth, so we can only imagine what is going to be on offer in the coming years.
