The Champions have been linked with Paul Pogba, who left Old Trafford in 2012 after not signing a new contract, and is now a regular and fans favourite at Juventus. United owners, the Glazers, have told Moyes that he has money to spend in January, which will be music to fan’s ears. The problem the Reds have is that without the guarantee of Champions League football, certain targets may not want to join them. Leighton Baines’ is a prime example, and he has just committed his future to Everton for the foreseeable future, much to the frustration of his former boss.

Sunday’s fixture is important for both sides for different reasons. Chelsea are still well in the hunt for the Premier League title, but the visitors need some kind of a result at Stamford Bridge if they are to claw anything from what has been a poor season by their standards. Another loss for United could mount even more pressure on Moyes.
