Swansea decimated the Spanish side 3-0 in the reverse fixture in September, with Jonathan de Guzman capping off a memorable night with a stunning free kick midway through the second half.

Valencia sit top of the group with nine points, with Swansea just one point behind them with two games to go. The Swans could have already qualified for the next stage of the competition, if it weren’t for two last minute equalisers in their previous two games against Kuban’ Krasnodar. Having said that, the Welsh side remain unbeaten in the competition.

Swansea ended a run of five games without a win on Saturday as they beat a struggling Fulham side 2-1 at Craven Cottage. Michael Laudrup’s men are still looking to rediscover their form from last season, which saw them finish in the top half of the Premier League table and win the League Cup.

It’s been a fairly modest start to the domestic campaign for Swansea, who still have to travel to the Etihad and Stamford Bridge before Christmas. Laudrup will be keen to secure his side’s spot in the knockout phase of the competition, allowing him to rest players for their final group game against St. Gallen.

Both Wilfried Bony and last season’s sensation Michu have found their scoring touch in the Europa League. Bony has found the net five times in his seven games, and Michu has bagged four for the Swans. Laudrup will not risk Michu for the game against Valencia, but hopes he will return in a week’s time to face Newcastle.

Valencia have had a pretty up and down start to their season in Spain, and currently sit 11th in La Liga with just 17 points from their 14 games. Luckily for them, the Europa League has served them more favourably so far this campaign. The Spanish side sit top of Group A, having won three of their first four games. Boss Miroslav Dukic has played a fairly mixed side for his sides Europa League outings, but will surely play a strong side on Thursday night in order to get a result in Wales.

Wilfried Bony will look to score again against Valencia on Thursday.

 It’s the youngsters of the side which have really stolen the show in Europe for them this season, with Spaniards Canales and Paco Alcácer both chipping in with important goals. The 20-year-old Argentine midfielder Frederico Cartabia has also shown some impressive form, weighing in with two goals of his on in his four games.

Swansea have lost just twice at home all season, and they will be looking to wrap up qualification in style tonight with a strong performance. Valencia will be keen to put their last meeting with the Welsh side behind them, so expect them to field a strong side for their trip to the Liberty Stadium. With Swansea’s impressive home form, and the fact that Valencia haven’t failed to score since the visit of their opponents in Septmeber, we should expect a few goals on Thursday night.
