There is no doubt that we will see commitment by the bucket load by both teams, as the fans demand a result in this game, but will we see much quality in a game where it can come down to which team can control their nerve in a tense atmosphere?

With the international break over, West Brom will want to get over the controversy at Stamford Bridge with a win, and overall they have played well recently, while Villa finally got a win two weeks ago against Cardiff to stop a poor run.

I can see this being a very cagey game as both teams almost prefer to play away from home.  We all know that Villa are set up to counter attack teams, which leads to problems when trying to break down teams at Villa Park, while West Brom love to break out using the pace of Stephane Sessegnon and the direct running of Shane Long.  Also, with Steve Clarke wary of Villa’s strengths, I can’t see him being too gung ho about attacking, and they will prefer to be patient and wait for a chance.

If this match goes anything like that, the chances of a bore draw are fairly high, and sure enough four of their last five meetings have ended like that.  You can get 5/2 on the same happening again.  As for goalscorers, Christian Benteke hasn’t hit form yet since his injury and is touch and go to play here.  As a local player, Gabby Agbonlahor knows the importance of such games and also has a good record in Midlands derbies; I’m surprised he’s at 10/1 for First Goalscorer with Winner and we have to pick him for our first goalscorer tip.

A little fact that caught my attention is that since 2004, Villa have scored first in this fixture in nine out of the 12 meetings; I want to use that so how about backing a halftime/fulltime with Villa leading at the break and the draw being the overall result?  That’s 16/1, and is very appealing when you look at the history of draws in the fixture.
