Hull City’s return to the top flight of English football has been solid. A loss away at Everton last time out put an end to a five match league and cup unbeaten run, with a 3-2 away win at Newcastle a particular highlight. Those are however the only points they have picked up on the road this term, and a side with the talents Tottenham have at their disposal should prove a bridge too far for Steve Bruce’s men. They do look well placed to survive in this division and can pose sides some serious problems, but these are the sort of games Spurs should win comfortably if they wish to break back into the top four.

Spurs do have the potential distraction of a midweek Europa League tie to contend with, but the strength of their squad after a very busy summer should allow them to come through tough weeks such as this with little concern. They had been in fine form this season up until their most recent home fixture, which saw them produce a very uncharacteristic display in going down 0-3 to West Ham.

They responded well with an accomplished display away to a much improved Aston Villa last time out, and have some of the leagues most exciting players amongst their ranks. Much has been made of Andros Townsend’s form this season, which resulted in a call up to the England squad where he shone in recent World Cup qualifiers. Despite losing their prize asset to Spanish giants Real Madrid over the summer, Spurs have assembled a really threatening side, and the task ahead certainly seems very daunting for Hull as we look for a Spurs vs Hull prediction.

If you’d have told Steve Bruce that come the end of October his side would be level on points with Manchester United he probably wouldn’t have believed you, and Hull certainly have shown that they are very capable of competing in the Premier League. Saying that I can only see one result this weekend as Spurs are a side full of great individual talents who have been playing well together and look like being right around the top four come May. The loss of goalkeeper Allan McGregor to a thigh injury is a blow and certainly won’t boost the Tigers chances at White Hart Lane.

Spurs have kept an impressive five clean sheets from their opening eight games, and Hull have only scored more than once in a game on one occasion so far this season.
