Spain vs Italy Football Predictions and Free Betting Tips

Spain play Italy in the second Confederations Cup semi-final on Thursday in search of a place in Sunday’s final, we have the best free betting tips for the match.

Spain have coasted through the tournament so far, winning all three matches and scoring 15 goals. They stared with a 2-1 win over Uruguay before putting ten past Tahiti without getting out of second gear, and most recently beat Nigeria 3-0 to ensure top spot and a smooth progression to the semi-finals.

Italy have been involved in three great matches so far, beating Mexico 2-1 before coming back to miraculously beat Japan 4-3. Their last match saw them beaten 4-2 by Brazil but the most damaging thing to come out of that game for them is the injury to Mario Balotelli, who has been sent home with a thigh strain.

That blow leaves Italy without a recognised out and out front man and despite goalscoring not being a problem for them so far, Thursday’s match is now even tougher than expected. It will probably be AC Milan’s Stephan El Shaarawy who fills the Balotelli void, or the experience of Alberto Gilardino but with Andrea Pirlo injured as well, Italy are facing a mammoth task to reach the final.

It is difficult to predict the Spain starting XI in this tournament, Del Bosque has rotated for all three matches so far but Soldado has stared against Uruguay and Nigeria so he could get the nod again against Italy with any of Pedro, Fabregas, Mata, Silva or Jesus Navas on either side.
