It’s the semi-final stage of the Champions League and the two mouth-watering ties take place this week as the Bundesliga face La Liga in both matches.

The Champions League semi-final places are shared between Germany and Spain this season with Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich representing the Bundesliga and Real Madrid and Barcelona flying the flag for La Liga.

Three of these four sides were also in last season’s semi-finals where both Real Madrid and Barcelona were knocked out by Bayern Munich and eventual winners Chelsea.

The semi-finals kick-off on Tuesday night in Germany where Bayern Munich play Barcelona. Bayern are already confirmed as Bundesliga champions this season and Barcelona are all but there in their quest for the La Liga title.

Bayern will be looking to gain a sizeable advantage before the second leg at the Nou Camp here and will ideally want to score a couple of goals without reply to give them a realistic chance of holding onto their lead back in Barcelona and gaining an advantage with an away goal.

Wednesday’s semi-final takes place in Dortmund when Borussia Dortmund play Real Madrid. Dortmund needed two last minute goals to progress from the last round and will need to play much better against Mourinho’s men knowing a second leg back in Madrid will be a difficult task.
