Crystal Palace vs. Birmingham – Friday 29th March, 5.30pm – 8/11
Palace face a visit from Birmingham this Good Friday as they look to keep up the pace on the automatic promotion spots with only 8 games left to play as well as keeping up their fine home form. At Selhurst Park Ian Holloway’s side are still scoring goals for fun, having put 14 past their opponents in their last 6, and despite finally finding some sense of consistency this season, Birmingham won’t be able to stop the Eagles from upping their tally on Friday. However Birmingham will not go without reply, lately their attack has been potent on the road, finding the net 9 times in their last 6 road games. However they won’t overcome Crystal Palace here; who with their pace in attack will be able to cause havoc amongst the Birmingham backline.
Arsenal vs. Reading – Saturday 28th March, 3pm – 2/5
Arsenal have excellent form in Saturday 3pm games at the Emirates, and we can expect more of the same from them as they host Reading and their new manager Nigel Adkins. Reading weren’t exactly known for their defensive capabilities under Brian McDermott in the Premier League, nor were Southampton during Nigel Adkins tenure, so any hopes Reading fans have of a defensive masterclass being produced by the Royals on Saturday are slim. Arsenal are without Wilshere and Walcott but the Reading midfield will still struggle, and with Arsenal chasing 4th place we can expect to see them pushing forward with this game and putting Reading to the sword.
Sheff Wed vs. Barnsley – Saturday 28th March, 3pm – 11/10
With both of these sides on the brink of the relegation zone this tie will be a nervous affair which will lead to goals for us. Barnsley take their remarkable recent form to Hillsborough and look to put more room between themselves and the Owls, and will look to do so with the counter attacking game they’ve used to great effect recently on the road, with 13 goals in their last 6. Sheff Wed will have to take the game to Barnsley and leave themselves open to the counter, however they will be attacking a defence that is poor away from home, having conceded 10 in those same 6 matches. Barnsley have a tendency to concede when they score, and Wednesday will look to take advantage of this in their desperate bid to get themselves up the table.
