Super Sunday’s 1.30pm kick-off this week sees Man Utd host Liverpool at Old Trafford in what is likely to be a closely-fought encounter.

There is no doubting the fact that Liverpool are on very decent run at the moment, although they have hardly been defeating the cream of Premier League.  True, they have put three past both QPR and Sunderland, and four past Fulham (no mean feat) in recent weeks.  However the Reds have had a couple of howlers too, namely defeats to Stoke City and the abysmal Aston Villa, who won 3-1, yes 3-1 at Anfield just a few short weeks ago.  Liverpool’s recent record against Utd at Old Trafford also cautions against getting carried away with Brendan Rodgers’ side, as they have won only one and lost eight of the last nine away against Ferguson’s men.

For me there is only one winner of this match, so get your money on Man Utd at 5/6.  And make it a lumpy bet.  Other than that, each of Man Utd’s last four home victories over Liverpool have been by a one goal margin with the 2-1 scoreline occurring twice.  Therefore a small bet on another 2-1 score in favour of Utd is worthy of a few quid at 15/2.
